Why I Got My CCW Permit

1) It’s my Patriotic duty... [More]
I don't mean to be disagreeable or anything, but that's pretty much why I refuse to get one.

Yeah, I know, that makes us all look bad and I ought to work to change the law if I don't like it.

Ain't that right, Henry?

It is interesting that reducing barriers to voter registration is given high priority despite concerns about voter fraud while barriers to the right to keep and bear arms that "shall not be infringed" continue to be erected. Exercising the right to vote should be just as easy as exercising the right to keep and bear arms. Exercising the right to keep and bear arms should be just as easy as exercising the right to vote.

Way to make "a political statement" and express "an act of patriotism",hoist the flag, and your finger, in enraged defiance of those despots who say you can’t... Wait- you begged the despots for their permission to do something you claim they say you are not allowed to do, and think you are being defiant when they gave you permission to do it? How does that work again?? Keep bowing down and licking those hands, you rebel, you. LOL!

I have my permit to carry. When I got it I did so with the understanding that if the government ever moves on handgun owners that I am on their list. I did it anyway because I have been shot at once, had a gun pulled on me another time, and had a guy try to knife me once. I don't work in the safest of areas and I would rather have the tools to legally defend myself than be unarmed or end up being charged for illegally carrying a gun in the event that I do have to defend myself or those I care about.

I know the system isn't perfect and that we're basically asking permission to exercise our God given rights if we choose to do so legally. I don't like it but I'll continue to work within the law until the time to ignore the law gets here

Actually ... no. I carry iron on my hip to deter the freelance thugs and thieves, and I carry plastic in my wallet to deter the "state authorized" ones. Works better than holy water on a vampire, it does, and does NOT give "them" a chance to hold me up to the press as a scofflaw.

But I admire you guys who "go bare." Just, please, all I ask of you is that if/when you get busted for carrying without, PLEASE, for the sake of all that's good and holy, HIRE A FRICKEN ATTORNEY AND DON'T CREATE REALLY UGLY CASE LAW FOR THE REST OF US BY SCREWING UP THE CASE TRYING IT YOURSELF!!!!

Thank you for your attention.
