I think this particular issue is driven by a little hoplophobia on the part of NFL movers and shakers. However, it is a little entertaining to see the shocked faces of police officers being treated as nothing special.

Looks like some of the "only ones" are not happy being relegated to the "everyone" class. If I can't carry, then they shouldn't either, unless they are specifically on duty at that place.

Welcome to the great unwashed, officers.

There is no reason that a police officer should have any more rights and privileges than the rest of us.

I mentioned this policy to a detective friend of mine. His response? As an investigator, he is trained to redirect the thinking of those he deals with. He enters the stadium with a cup of beverage, asks whether he can bring it in, drinks the beverage and tosses the empty cup into the trash, establishing in the mind of the gateperson that he is an honest, rule abiding individual. The gateperson then does not detect the concealed pistol that the detective has on him despite the brief "safety theater" patdown he is given.

If that "Jedi mind trick" works for the detective, imagine how many others it works for. Enjoy your games.
