A Tale of Two Cities

St. Petersburg, where guns are available to those who want them for defense: Why this man chose to confront criminals unarmed is something we'll never know. [More]

The Bronx, where guns, particularly on one's person, are denied to all but "Only Ones" and a privileged, connected few, and the criminals prefer it that way. [More]

A-yup.

Note to would-be armed robbers:

Don't try to rob another robber. They carry guns, and they've already decided they're OK with killing somebody.

"Pierre has prior arrests for robbery and marijuana. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon."

Could be that NY got three robbers off the streets with no real effort required on the part of the NYPD.

The man shot in St. Petersburg possibly did not expect the car thieves to be armed and overestimated his ability to deal with them while unarmed:

Unlike what some would believe, arrests are not convictions.

"The unidentified Mercedes driver was taken into custody and has been uncooperative, cops sources said."

In other words, after again asserting his Second Amendment right to arm himself for his own defense (despite the demonstrated willingness of the state of New York to systemically suppress this civil right), he is now asserting his Fifth Amendment rights. It is not his burden to prove his innocence.
