I believe it is intentional. Their target is already known in the mainstream and outside of activist circles -- why put my name out there and give me wider visibility? From their point of view, that would make no sense. Best if I remain unknown -- should that ever change, they'll decide it makes sense to attack.

So - a little policy wonk at Media Matters, schooled by the Brady Bunch, wrote something. But we're supposed to believe it's balanced reporting. Amazing.
The comments are a case study in troll feeding. Interesting how they calculatedly deflect and point fingers from nothing to nothing. Alinsky would be proud.
I think what makes it a problem is the fact that various news aggregators pick up MM lies and propagate those lies widely.
Too many people, including non-progs, will believe those lies.
In a sense, the 'net has been weaponized.
