Such delusional thinking! The article refers to a "Hiroshima/Nagasaki orgy of mass destruction", disregarding the much greater number of potential casualties on both sides, both civilian and military, by an opposed invasion of mainland Japan in 1945. These casualty estimates do not include the ongoing civilian starvation rate due to the conversion of personnel and resources to the war effort, the mining of the harbors shutting down the fishing fleet and the destruction of Japanese shipping and rail transport.
