Unlawful gun owners commit 80 percent of gun crimes [More]Gomer?
I'll bet if you drilled down further and checked out of the "lawful" ones that do, most of their "crimes" would be more along the lines of infractions/violations.
I missed this when it came out two years back. Here's why.

I did some correlations about 15 years ago and found that criminals using guns to ply their "trade" accounted for over 95% of gun crimes. In at least 20% of cases these thugs had their "gun crime" pled down to misdemeanors which didn't disarm them.
