They attacked him, because "Wait your turn, don't crowd, there's enough for everyone" is such an ... unreasonable request.
Everyone should take note: This is how they respond to people who are helping them. Imagine what they would do to people who don't want to help.
Or worse, what they would do to people like us who want to keep our freedoms and hard-earned incomes for ourselves and our families.
By any logical measure, other towns along the path should be less inclined to offer assistance to the freeloaders, which will make the freeloaders more inclined to take what they want/need using violence.
What's the term for a horde of people unlawfully passing through a region, stealing, pillaging, and threatening (and committing) violence on the residents, literally eating out their substance?
(Related but unaddressed: What's the ratio of "military-age males" within the groups of "migrants", and what are the implications for the sisters and daughters of the regions they are "just passing through"?)
