I finally read Col. Cooper's 'Art of the Rifle' a few years ago. Then I read some other of his books, and the online archive of his 'Gun Gossip'. Better late than never, I suppose, but the pity of it all is that I was stationed at 29-Palms, CA, from 1997 to 2001. It wouldn't have been such a long drive to see him, and perhaps he wouldn't have minded talking history with a young Marine. It irks me every time I think of it that I missed the chance.
