Counter-Intuitive

Well, they can't be serious unless they've got a sign to let people know they really mean business.

It ain’t the counters… it’s the customers.

Here in our authentic working cowboy town, where carry in public buildings has never been banned, that sort of thing just doesn’t fly.

About a decade ago, the local Democratic whip instigated to get firearms banned in Town Hall. The idea was publicly repudiated by town officials and employees alike. One clerk from the payment window testified that many people came in with firearms, and none of them had ever hassled the town workers in the slightest. The only threatening incident that stood out in her mind was when one fellow came in all irate and threw a live rattlesnake over the counter at the staff.

The idea was dropped, and the open counter still doesn’t have as much as a security window (or any window).
