Law is Like a Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You're Going to Get.

Only two explanations for that make sense: total Lucy-level ineptitude or unabashed arrogance. Unfortunately, it’s likely the latter. [More]
So impeach the subversive old coot.

Adelman was a fool when he was in the Legislature. But he was part of a majority (D) bunch, so when Tommy Thompson, the (R) Governor saw an opportunity to get rid of Adelman, he conspired with Herb Kohl (D) to put Adelman on the FedBench. Real lawyers were in shock; Thompson had just crapped on the Fed Court system (this was before the 9th became what it is today....)

He's superannuated, a toadstool, and never got any other offers whether in or out of Gummint service, so he pops off to get attention. Doesn't rate the compliment "curmudgeon"; he's just an older version of the fool he always was.

"That means that no litigant who appears in Adelman’s courtroom reasonably can have faith that he or she will get a fair shake."

Does ANYBODY with less $ than Tom Steyer expect "justice" from the Roland Freisler Brigade (Jurisprudence in service to Staat und Partei) It doesn't matter what the Peons think.
The price of justice can be represented by an equation:
Price of Justice = (infinity) * (#of billable hours) + (other expenses)
In the Volks Gericht whoever has the most $ for lawyers wins, and Fedgov has enough $ to prevail no matter what the facts or actual innocence (which is irrelevant).
Nobody believes their crap anymore.
