The Big Sleazy

Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans refuses to take responsibility for her decision not to call off Mardi Gras over concerns of the Wuhan coronavirus. That decision has caused New Orleans to become the epicenter of coronavirus cases in the state of Louisiana, according to medical experts. So who exactly does the Democratic mayor blame for not canceling Mardi Gras in her own city? Donald Trump. [More]
Well, Louisiana does rank 49th out of 50, and I bet if you took New Orleans out of the equation they'd move up considerably.

For years, under many administrations, Corps of Engineers money was diverted from upgrading creaking levies to pork projects.

When Amtrak was about to move their rolling stock out of harms way, they offered an opportunity for the parish to evacuate people on those trains. The parish president declined.

And then there was the post Katrina photo of long yellow somethings submerged under ten feet of murky storm water. Upon closer inspection you realize you're looking at the tops of hundreds of drowned school buses. Buses that could have been used as an escape route but weren't.

Louisiana's Governor, the Parish President, and the New Orleans Mayor were all Democrats. Yet somehow, when the levies failed, the deaths in the Ninth Ward became President George W. Bush's fault.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

I wish I could remember who said this first about the Democrats: "They're willing to take everything but the blame."

I'm just trying to estimate the size of the howling mob if Mardi Gras WAS cancelled, or even postponed.
