Two quick points:

1. As a citizen of the State of Florida, I can assure anyone reading this that, yes, the Republic can survive if an Presidential election is contested. However, we never did find out how all those "Chads" became dimpled, much less pregnant. ;-)

2. One is the most ridiculous number in the universe. Simply put, if it is possible for an event to occur once, given the vastness of the universe, it will happen repeatedly.

So, what happens if a presidential election is contested? A number of things are possible. I suspect that since the formerly unthinkable happened and a precedent was established in Bush v Gore, we're fixin' to find out what those possibilities are.
