This kind of crap is airing in Texas, courtesy of DPS and the weasels in the lege who authorized monies for this in the last session.
Given the likely R party 'speaker' who has achieved that status with help from the party of darkness the lege is likely to allocate more money in the next session.
I'll store my tools as I damn well see fit in order to maximize utility.
This is a slide deck that has been on the DPS website since 2018: https://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/LTC/documents/SafeStorage.pdf.
On slide 5, they advise the gun owner to report the theft of a firearm "within 48 hours" to ATF and local police. Then they erroneously state that the aggrieved gun owner will "need to complete ATF Form 3310.11."
This is patently false. The 48-hour theft reporting and Form 3310.11 is required of firearms dealers (i.e. FFLs), not ordinary people.
The fact that The Ad Council gives its official seal of approval is itself an atrocity.
And all of you remember: it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
