Stipulating that the DSM routinely commits lies of both commission and omission, it's also likely because this story gives us no way to independently verify any of its claims. There are no names, including of agencies, what appear to be active links to documentation are underlining, there are no copies of warrants or arrest records from the principals involved, and there is only a statement at the end by the Montana Daily Gazette saying they stand by it, meaning they are aware of the deficiencies and have not attempted to address them.
This one is making the rounds on gun forums and I see I'm not the only one scratching his head.
I've tweeted to the Flathead County Sheriff in an attempt to find something to hook onto so that the claims can be investigated for validity.
