 Democrats eye path to citizenship for 8 million in economic plan [More]

The bipartisan "Grand Compromise" the got Simpson-Mazzoli, our last pass at "comprehensive immigration reform, into law included the following:

1. Secure the southern border.

2. Establish what became "e-verify" and require all employers to vet their new hires' citizenship status.

3. A promise that the included amnesty would be a one time deal.

#1 never happened. #2 is in place but making it mandatory nationwide somehow became too controversial to implement. To wrap it up, now they're pretending the promise to the American people in #3 didn't happen.

And then to top it all off, some members of congress wonder why their approval ratings as a body hover in the high single to low double digit range.
