I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. And we're just the guys to do it. Let's DO IT!!!

One mistake I see made repeatedly by those who's political skills have allowed them to elevate themselves over their mere plebeian colleagues is when they apply anthropomorphic projection to this virus.
A virus, any virus, exists on that murky divider between life and complex chemistry. It has no intelligence whatsoever. it cannot "try" anything. Variations in its makeup occur completely through random recombination with other chemical precursors, perhaps from other viruses, and transcription "errors". Some of these random changes are to the virus' advantage, some are not.
The idea that some are trying to "outwit" that which has no wits to begin with says more about them than it does about the virus.
