Unintended Consequences?

That means that this bill, whatever it says now, can be completely rewritten into whatever the Democrats want, as long as it still relates to “firearms.”  Just imagine the damage they can do. [More]

One wonders how that escaped seasoned politician Greg Smith's notice -- or if it did. Having to beg him to fix this makes the whole thing look suspect.

As an Oregonian, I've always wondered why the "relating clause" on every pro-gun bill is so generic as "Related to Firearms". Is there a list of relating clauses they must choose from, or couldn't they make it specific enough to make the "gut and stuff" more difficult?

Smith's bill is to repeal a gun control bill passed last year, SB 554. Why can't the relating clause read, "Relating to the Repeal of 2021 Senate Bill 554"?

I've not been able to get a straight answer on that. Not even from OFF.
