It's All Over But the Crying

Senate forces Jackson nomination out of committee with bipartisan vote - GOP Sens. Murkowski and Romney joined Collins to vote with Democrats. [More]

There's a total shocker.

So much for denying a quorum.

I'm sure the gun groups will all be sending us hysterical emails about this that end with a plea for financial support. Instead, why not ask them where their alerts were urging members to invoke Senate Rule 26?

We Can't Give Up Now?

GOA wants members to change Joe Manchin's mind on confirming Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. [More]

And if they manage, do we know what Murkowski, Collins, Romney, and Graham are going to do?

I haven't seen anything from GOA saying Republicans denying a Senate Judiciary Committee quorum to prevent a floor vote won't work, so I'm wondering why they're giving up now on it.

Something to Watch

On December 16th, anti-gun leaders Senator Feinstein and Senator Durbin joined arms with Republican Senators Ernst and Murkowski to announce: “After nearly three years of negotiations, we have reached an agreement… “We are committed to introducing a bipartisan, modernized VAWA reauthorization next month.” Senator Feinstein went on to brag that this compromise would expand the misdemeanor gun ban. Given the makeup of the Senate, there is NO REASON that gun control should pass this Congress. And to be sure, Senators who were elected on a pro-gun platform have no business HELPING the Biden Administration enact its gun control agenda. [More]

I'd send the email but my "Republican" Senator Portman is an on-his-way-out Vichycon lump with nothing to lose and Democrat Sherrod Brown is a flat-out cultural Marxist.

Right now they're making lots of noise and puffing themselves up. I want to see if the needle moves over at GovTrack, which currently gives this a 2% passage prognosis. That will determine if it's worth writing another column.

The bigger issue here is dumping those traitorous hags Murkowski and Ernst, and that's mostly up to their constituents.

The Usual Suspects

Joining Mr. McConnell in helping the measure advance were a wide array of GOP lawmakers. Votes in favor came from senior leadership figures, like Minority Whip John Thune of South Dakota and Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso of Wyoming. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, a former GOP whip, also backed advancing the bill. Others backing the measure included Sens. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Susan Collins of Maine, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Joni Ernst of Iowa and Mitt Romney of Utah. A cadre of retiring GOP lawmakers, including Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio, Richard Burr of North Carolina and Roy Blunt of Missouri, provided the rest of the votes.  [More]

GOA wants us to write our senators to either thank them or express our disappointment. I sent mine out of kneejerk impulse and pretty much instantly regretted it since one is a gun-grabbing Democrat and the other is a squish who's retiring and doesn't care.

I wonder how many NRA orange cards will be sent out next primary for the turncoats...

Speaking of Election Fraud...

When asked if the NRSC would back Murkowski financially, Scott said “Absolutely.” [More]

He's the same charlatan raising money pretending he's a Team Trump loyalist.

Payback

Trump Endorses Lisa Murkowski’s GOP Challenger Kelly Tshibaka For 2022 [More]

I've seen him endorse far too many squishes and outright enemies over the years.

Good riddance if it works.

Tshibaka looks promising:

I will be a strong voice in opposition to illegal immigration and, as the proud descendant of Americans who fought in virtually every major American conflict from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War, I will be a tireless advocate for our military and our veterans. I will fight to preserve our Second Amendment right to bear arms and, as an unapologetically pro-life Alaska conservative, I will be a voice for the unborn. And I’m for America first, always.

Naturally, the left already has its knives out.

I just want to know if I'm pronouncing her name right.

Chipman Off the Old Block

Beyond the obvious nepotism issue if Mrs. Chipman faces if, god forbid, her husband is confirmed as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, there is the little issue of conflicts of interest. Ideally, BATFE employees would be scrupulously neutral when it comes to gun politics. However, we know this is an ideal and not reality. [More]

John Richardson notes that neutrality is not a realistic expectation when dealing with fanatics.

Speaking of conflicts of interest on Facebook...

I also found what I hope turns out to be his reaction to the confirmation vote, provided "moderate Republicans" Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Toomey, and "pro-gun Democrat" Manchin don't push him over the top:

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

Murkowski to back Jan. 6 commission bill [More]

Of course she will.

No need to even call Gomer for this one.

Make Her Pay

Senator Lisa Murkowski Draws Republican Primary Challenger [More]

How many more betrayals will Alaskans stand?

The challenger...

Primarying Murkowski would be not just the strongest signal voters could send Republicans but it's a necessary one. We're at a point of political no-return where I don't care if they vote our way out of principle or out of fear as long as they vote our way.

With 'Republicans' Like These...

Several Republican Senators Roy Blunt (MO), Richard Burr (NC), Shelley Moore-Capito (WV), Bill Cassidy (LA), Susan Collins (ME), John Cornyn (TX), Joni Ernst (IA), Lindsey Graham (SC), Chuck Grassley (IA), Jim Inhofe (OK), Ron Johnson (WI), James Lankford (OK), Mitch McConnell (KY), Jerry Moran (KS), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Rob Portman (OH), Mitt Romney (UT), Mike Rounds (SD), John Thune (SD), and Thom Tillis (NC) all voted to confirm Garland. [More]

Well, that doesn't bode well for freedom. So much for "pro-gun" creds that got several of these frauds elected. I'll be interested in seeing how many got "A" ratings from NRA, and what their NumbersUSA grades are.

And it looks like he'll be directing  DOJ focus on targets other than the communists occupying "autonomous zones" in American cities. Establishment" GOP support for him means they are counting on a government discrediting campaign against Trump agenda supporters.

At least GOA "scored the final vote in favor of the confirmation of Judge Garland as an anti-gun vote."

The Frozen Swamp

Mitch McConnell Says He Will Throw His Support Behind Trump-Hating RINO Lisa Murkowski in her Reelection Bid! — He REALLY Hates His Voters [More]

So what are Goldilocks Alaskans going to do about it -- besides dissing Joe Miller as unacceptable?

With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Democrats?

The five Senators who voted to table Paul's point of order were Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), per Axios. [More]

And Portman just sounds like he's being Portman again.

It's Her Party and She'll Lie if She Wants To

Murkowski: No, I'm Not Switching Parties [More]

The question I have is why do Alaskan Republicans keep giving her the choice?

Like Rats from a Sinking Ship

Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania joined GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska over the weekend in calling for Trump to “go away as soon as possible.”  [More]

What a shocker!

Just in Time to Give Murkowski and Collins a Hand

Winner of Ariz. special Senate election should be 'promptly seated': Dem Mark Kelly [More]

Counting chickens are we? Well, we all know why.

Too bad Arizona Republicans keep putting up uniparty swamp squishes.

Did I mention Kelly relies on political extortion to dragoon corporations into doing his bidding?

#FillTheSeat

Republicans and Trump voters want Republicans and Trump to fight. The best way to demoralize Republican and Trump voters is to not fight for this. [More]

I don't know if I'd give that much credit to generic "Republicans." They don't call 'em The Stupid Party for nothing.

I'm waiting to see who else joins Murkowski.

Tell me Susan Collins surprises anyone.

Americans in Name Only

Three senators – Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Mitt Romney of Utah – are rumored to be willing for witnesses to be called in the impeachment trial now underway in the Senate. [More]

This is just a stop along the way to where "lesser of two evils" voting will ultimately take us. Had examples been made of betrayers 30 years ago, and then consistently applied, the lesson would have been learned by the GOP.

I just got a solicitation from the Republicans asking for money-- which they will distribute based on considerations very different from my priorities. If you do donate, do it for individual candidates who have earned it-- giving it to the party means unavoidably giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

None Dare Call It Treason

GOP Sens. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), Susan Collins (Maine), Mike Lee (Utah), Jerry Moran (Kansas), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rand Paul (Ky.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Mitt Romney (Utah), Pat Toomey (Pa.) and Roger Wicker (Miss.) voted to end the president's declaration.  [More]
