This is a placeholder for now because I have not had ads on this blog for years. In case I ever start up again, this will be the policy in effect:
The FTC has some fool nonsense rules about ads on blogs or some such and presumes authority over the First Amendment to compel the unfunded mandate that we who earn ad revenues make some kind of disclosure so you don't think we're getting paid to say nice things about people or God knows what, meaning they must think you're stupid, too. I have had a few ads on this site in the past and may do so again if I think it's worth a try. Combined, I probably couldn't buy a box of good cigars each year, let alone a bottle of George T. Stagg, and that is somehow supposed to compromise my morality to force me to say nice things about products and services I don't mean simply in exchange for filthy lucre. If you believe that, leave now--you're not smart enough to be here. Bottom line, aside from welcoming a sponsor, I will do no posts related to their products or services, or reviews of what they offer.
About "The Only Ones"
The purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they're involved in gun-related incidents.
Comment House Rules
Keep them on topic. No spam. No threats against anyone except me. Do not feed trolls--I'll take out the trash. Try to keep it clean. I'm the final arbiter. If you don't like the rules, start your own damn blog.
Link Policy
WarOnGuns reciprocates links with liberty-oriented sites promoting the right to keep and bear arms for all peaceable individuals. If you have linked to me and don't see your site below, it's probably just because I haven't noticed it yet. Shoot me an email via the "Contact Form" (see above in this sidebar) if you want to fix that.
As a general rule I remove links for blogs that have been inactive for over one year.
It’s clear that our Founding Fathers wanted us to have the means to keep all the weapons needed to not just defend this land, but also to protect it from the government if need be. [More]
Avoiding the militia argument and focusing entirely on individual self-defense, both in advocacy and in legal arguments, ultimately works against us.
"I am tired of half steps, old ideas and fake urgency around the problem we face: the presence of guns in our communities,” Liss-Riordan said in a statement Tuesday morning. “Enough is enough. It is time we take real action and repeal the Second Amendment.” [More]
According to the family's attorneys, the mother's inquiry was "informational" in nature and was not motivated out of a concern that her son posed a threat to anybody. [More]
Good. About time they said something, and they're talking to the right guy.
What's not good, if you read the whole article, is that Republican infringement considerations are based on political calculation with no mention of principle and no concerted effort to educate constituents on why proposed measures are bad.
Fairfax then refusing to comment about "arguments against the bill's merits" does not help with that.
And any Republicans listening to Manchin about "standing tall," like he has their best interests in mind, makes you wonder just how dumb some of them are.
“Republicans are headed for extinction in the suburbs if they don’t distance themselves from the NRA. The GOP needs to put forth solutions to help eradicate the gun violence epidemic,” said Dan Eberhart, a Republican donor and oil-and-gas executive who supports President Donald Trump. [More]
“Here’s my message to Republicans; if you don’t do something here [on guns] you’re gonna get annihilated in the suburbs in 2019. [More]
Here's my message to them: If you do something on guns you're gonna get annihilated.
If the Democrats take it all, do you really think they're going to get all the guns? Who thinks that will be the final word?
You won't find any real leadership from stool samples like this Republiquisling because you can tell from his pathetic arguments that he really never understood the Second Amendment to begin with. It just brought in a political constituency that frauds like him could exploit as long as it served their purposes until things got hot, and then it was time to bail.
Real leaders don't need to be cajoled by activists because they're the ones already taking a leadership role. Real leaders can educate constituencies and would never abandon or betray them. Real leaders do not preemptively surrender.
On a side note, since the link goes to a Virginia Democrat site, do I dare mention Jorge?
Representative Adam Kinzinger (R., Ill.) on Monday advocated for federal legislation that would ban the sale of firearms to Americans under the age of 21 in response to the mass shootings that claimed 31 lives over the weekend. [More]
It seems to me that any rational person would intuit a connection between mental illness and mass killings. However, the anti-gun left wants to deny the connection so that all blame can be placed on guns and white supremacy ideology. [More]
Well yeah. If they targeted violent nut jobs, they'd be going after their own constituencies.
Democrat Joaquin Castro Publishes Hit List of Names and Businesses of Top Trump Donors in His City — Accuses Them of Fueling Racism, Opens Them Up to Assault [More]
For whatever reason, Fox News still won't allow links from Blogger, but they're running the hoist-on-his-own-petard headline: "Joaquin Castro outed his own donors in bid to shame Trump supporters."
Democrat apologists are out there telling people this is no big deal, but I've seen times when revealing donor names did indeed result in scary consequences:
CAC and its supporters were harassed throughout the Roberti recall campaign. Death threats and intimidating phone calls were received. Break-ins occurred. Phone lines were cut. Supporters found their names printed in newspapers—along with insinuations that they were affiliated with white supremacists (Howard's maternal grandfather was a rabbi!)
Responding to the fear that the Trump Administration might really cut the number of refugees to be admitted to the US in FY2020 (which begins on October 1, 2019) to zero, Senator James Lankford (R-OK) and Chris Coons (D-DE) spear-headed a letter to the Secretary of State saying they want the President to “increase” the number of refugees to be admitted. [More]
Don't worry, I'm sure the admissions process will be rigorous.
“I don’t know if he wrote it or not, but it was not uploaded by the murderer. That is clear, and law enforcement was made aware of this before most people had even heard the horrific news.” [More]
I'd better turn on CNN and find out what's really happening.
But if you want to know how this American version of China's social credit system would work in practice, let me remind you of how Veterans Affairs recklessly red-flags "disruptive" citizens without due process, transparency or accountability in the name of "safety." [More]
Can't you just wait for the Republicans to include all gun owners?
Props to our suppliers for all the hoops they have to jump through to bring us stuff we want that others don't want us to have. I worked for two decades helping companies navigate through regulatory compliance mazes and appreciate the effort that takes.
Ballot harvesting, a surge of illegal aliens from the southern border and Middle Eastern ‘refugees’ resettled in Orange County by Obama has shifted the demographics dramatically. [More]
UPDATE: It looks one of the side dishes is banning private sales, and the only reason he won't try for a semiauto ban is that he doesn't perceive enough support.
Give it one more particularly bloody incident and that'll change.
We are going to make it illegal to own anything in this country that's this shape (I drew it from memory, from all the CNN bloodbaths I've seen, not one of which involved any other shape). [More]
Who better to dictate your rights than morons who think they're smart?
It's easy to see how he made Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's bipartisan "Most Corrupt" list.
He evidently thinks he enjoys a big enough Republican advantage to betray those who believed the lies. Assuming a challenger who actually understands what the Second Amendment is about doesn't primary this poltroon out of office, any gun owner who nonetheless still votes for this political adulterer may as well just admit to being a willing cuckold. That's exactly the kind of "lesser of two evils" rationalization over the years that got us into this mess in the first damn place.
Besides, someone who pretends to be your friend and then betrays you so completely and profoundly is the greater evil.
Ivanka Trump Demands Federal Gun Confiscation Law [More]
When in her life has she not been protected by armed security, including and especially in places where you or I are prohibited by "law" from arming ourselves?
Debra Messing sparks outrage for agreeing with 'sick' tweet that said 'if I get killed in a mass shooting please cremate me and throw my ashes into Mitch McConnell’s and Dana Loesch’s eyes while I’m still smoldering' [More]
Ever the contrarian, though, my concern is that in our earnestness to not inspire evil we don’t unwittingly protect and enable it. And I’m not comfortable embracing the same rationales that are used to hyperbolize and demonize gun ownership: treating it as a public health “pathogen” and forcing changes on the behavior of all due to the aberrance of a few. [More]
A lot of people from "both sides of the debate" are counseling us that voluntary media withholding of information about killers is needed. I have yet to see any credible data pointing to a verifiable measurable reduction in incidents or body counts, and fear suppression generally seems to work in the interests of those who would define and control the narrative.
Congressional Republicans, under pressure to respond to this weekend’s massacres, appear to be coalescing around legislation to help law enforcement to take guns from those who pose an imminent danger — a measure that, if signed into law, would be the most significant gun safety legislation enacted in 20 years. [More]
And they'll still be smeared as racist "gun lobby" whores with blood on their hands.
Yeah, go ahead and take the fire out of a critical mass of core supporter bellies to feed the enemy jackals a pound of flesh. See if it persuades them to go away sated, or if instead, smelling fear and tasting blood, they decide they want more.
God forbid any of these poltroons should actually understand the Second Amendment and use their bully pulpits to educate their constituents.
In this case I default to the position that no person should ever be denied their right to self-defense and if they can, along the way, save the lives of others, it’s immoral for us to try to stop them. [More]
Refreshing rationality from an officer who is not an "Only One"...
The feds confiscated the weapon and placed Williams in custody, but were only made aware of the threat after his grandmother encouraged him to allow her to bring him to a local hospital for psych treatment following his comments that he intended on attacking the hotel. [More]
I wonder what would have happened had she just asked the "Only Ones" to come on over and handle it.
The former student who later shot up Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was such a threat in school that he was searched every morning for weapons, new testimony shows. [More]
Yet the "solution" being offered is to focus on confiscations while leaving the threat the freedom to stalk among us.
Investigators say Carson had recently stolen the gun ... Carson was ... booked into jail on multiple charges including ... possession of a weapon by a prohibited person ... Carson has multiple other felony convictions. [More]
I'm leaving for vacation in an hour and will be back Aug. 6.
I have no worries about making that knowledge public. Now that I've replaced the batteries in their shock collars so they can't escape the property and maul anyone (again), I've unchained and released feral sons Uday and Qusay from the basement, leaving them free to prowl the grounds.
Please hold off on all news tips, emails, tweets, FB messages and blog comments (which I have turned off until I get back). Anything you send will be a wasted effort, as I'll have a full plate and just won't be able to get to it when I return.
The White House petition expires in two days and will be ridiculously undersigned. I'll talk about that when I get back including that I'm not giving up and will figure something else out. At least I can take comfort that the effort to free A$AP Rocky got the president's attention (not to mention almost 630,000 signatures at this writing).
I have two articles that should be coming out soon:
On Ammoland, look for "Take Shannon Watts’ Advice and ‘Fight Like a Mother’ -- against Her."
On Firearms News, look for"Riding the Tiger," my take on what to do about Wayne and why.
We're told this is all about “commonsense gun safety laws.” Let’s take a look at the stories behind the girls being commemorated and see if anything the Moms and the Marchers demand, at least publicly, would have made a bit of difference for the victims. [More]
By adopting an "If it feels good, do it" attitude on "gun laws," trying to overpower gun owner objections and resistance, and forcing their will and way on them, aggressors for disarmament show themselves for what they are: Rights rapists.
Video of the stop shows Smith running from his car with his gun drawn and striking a surrendering Yakish in the helmet with his left hand, knocking Yakish and his bike to the ground. [More]
You have to wonder why that's the default tactic for someone with "a 30-year career."
Because county sheriffs have issued CCP permits s without completing a full NICS check,
firearms have been transferred to felons and other prohibited individuals in violation of federal
law, thereby creating a substantial public safety concern. For this reason, the standards set forth
in the Brady law require us to find that Alabama’s CCP permits no longer qualify as a NICS
check alternative. In the interest of public safety, and effective immediately, FFLs in
Alabama may no longer accept CCP permits as an alternative to a NICS check. Unless
another exception applies, a NICS check must be conducted whenever you transfer a
firearm to an unlicensed person even if the individual presents an unexpired CCP permit.
I'm trying to determine if they have evidence of widespread system "failures" to back this move or if they're simply making an excuse for another reversal. If you have knowledge that can shed light on this, please educate us in "comments."
NRA-Board Member, Joel Friedman, Speaks Out on the NRA’s Record [More]
What this does is it redirects the conversation over to points that don't directly deny any of the allegations. The other thing it doesn't do is mention the "intern." The last thing it doesn't do is persuade disgusted members to reopen their wallets.
It matters because the gun-grabbers want the public to think the greater danger applies to them as opposed to the criminal population that exhibits significantly higher incidences and rates of domestic violence, substance abuse, criminal activities, suicides, relationships and encounters with dangerous people, and the like. Crowded Democrat's Presidential Field Offers No Pro-Gun-Rights Candidates [More]
There is no such thing as a true pro-RKBA Democrat. Even if you could find one running for lower office, he'll still support the party and enable the edicts and the court appointments that will undo his "good" votes. He might vote "our" way because he likes to sport shoot and he won't win office if he comes across as a grabber. The party will let him in order to get and keep that seat.
And when needed, he'll betray us. Name one who hasn't.
U.S. attorney general William Barr has said consumers should accept the risks that encryption backdoors pose to their personal cybersecurity to ensure law enforcement can access encrypted communications. [More]

Officer fired for suggesting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "needs a round," after reading fake news post [More]
Pretty poor judgment, but what stands out most for me is they fired another cop just for clicking on "like" and the page wasn't even "public" but limited to "friends," meaning someone snitched him out.

What would guns designed by Henny Pennys look like? Big and heavy, festooned with a padlock, proof all 29 warning labels were read, owner fingerprint keypad, microphone and voice recognition software, chip reader, DNA blood-sample collection needle, video-screen on which to take a required test, google search for any racist, sexist, bigoted, etc. comment ever made on social media, and an automatic call to the FBI for authorization to use the gun. [More]
Don't forget those warning labels also need to be in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Tagalog...
