Ignoring Core Purpose Makes 2nd Amendment More Vulnerable to Infringements: The Militia Aspect, Part 2

Who doubts a state of cold civil war already exists between factions with irreconcilable differences? The fact is, we know what will be necessary to effect “the security of a free State,” but we also know the powers that be have no interest in putting on Constitutional chains when their whole shtick involves putting chains on others.  [More]
We ignore the first 13 words at our peril.

(And here's Part 1 in case you missed it.)

At Least They Got the 'Tyrannis' Part Right

If this measure becomes a law, it would be a Class 6 felony starting July 1. However, anyone in possession of an assault firearm, large-capacity firearm magazine, silencer or trigger activator has until January 1, 2021 to render them inoperable, surrender them to police, or just get them out of Virginia altogether. Everybody's a Critic

Mr. Codrea, Please! Please stop starting every other sentence with the word “And.” That is lazy journalism. [More]
Actually, only four sentences out of the entire piece begin that way.

And actually:
‘There is a persistent belief that it is improper to begin a sentence with and, but this prohibition has been cheerfully ignored by standard authors from Anglo-Saxon times onwards.’ -RW Burchfield, New Fowler’s Modern English Usage

‘A prejudice lingers from the days of schoolmarmish rhetoric that a sentence should never begin with and. The supposed rule is without foundation in grammar, logic, or art.’ -Modern American Usage (1966)
One of the ways I keep enjoying what I do, which is not lazy but work, by the way,  is by playing with language from time to time, sometimes writing in conversational tones. And me enjoying it and doing things my way is why I do this.

Ain't that right, Rick?

As counterintuitive as it sounds, it may be in our interests to want a ludicrously ineffective incompetent who drives people away to retain her seat against someone who may be smart enough to get things done that hurt us.

What He Can Do When He Wants To

As everyone in this room knows, whenever a criminal is wrongly released, the lives of your officers are unnecessarily put in danger.   [More]
I'd wondered what the problem with "sanctuary" for illegals was.

And then there's this:
The Founding Fathers carefully divided responsibility and power between the federal government and the state governments.  The “Supremacy Clause” in Article VI of the Constitution provides that the “Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof… shall be the supreme law of the land.” This Clause is a vital part of our constitutional order.  Enforcing a country’s immigration laws is an essential function of the national government. And no national government can enforce those laws properly if state and local governments are getting in the way.
So the reason we can't replace "a country's immigration laws" in his speech with "the Second Amendment" is...? Especially since those Founding Fathers he seems to understand considered it to be"necessary to the security of a free State:...?
