We're the Only Ones Overcharged Enough

He added, about the manslaughter charge against Pileggi, "This is an overcharge and may be unprovable." [More]
Yeah, I'm sure if one of us "accidentally" popped an "Only One," manslaughter would be considered an overcharge.

They're Always After Me Rucky Charms

Gardai (Irish police) carried out several smash and grab raids in Dublin's north inner city last Monday and confiscated 7,000 Samurai swords. [More]
Faith and Begorrah, Anjin-san!

We're the Only Ones Fixing Things Enough

Dugas said the ongoing investigation has thus far unearthed wrongdoing involving bribery, prostitution, drug offenses and domestic violence. [More]
The good thing is, it's Baton Rouge, so as far as "Only One" baton rogues go, we can be pretty confident it's only a few bad apples and ought to be a pretty easy fix...right?

We're the Only Ones Upset Enough

The Portland police union lashed out Wednesday against a city commissioner for his recommendation that two officers be suspended without pay in the death of a mentally ill man. [More]
Yeah, I mean, WTF?

Isn't being able to get away with that one of the perks of being an "Only One"?

What the hell kind of politically-motivated witch hunt is this?

You can see them in happier times posing with their trophy here...uh, oops, I mean, here...

Guilty Until Prove Innocent

Norman Wolfinger, the state attorney in Brevard County, said in a letter to the Legislature that while there isn't enough evidence to convict Dillon again, lawmakers should consider that his innocence isn't proven, either. [More]
Wow, Norman...where to begin with you...?

How's THIS for "Brazen"?

Brazen bank robbers on the loose, FBI seeks public's help [More]
In New Jersey?

Where that appellate court panel just ruled there's no Constitutional right to own a handgun?

Screw it.

You people in government want to be the "Only Ones"?

Be the damn "Only Ones."

Is that brazen enough for you?

We're the Only Ones Confused Enough

Local law enforcement officers are flummoxed by “murky, confusing and vague” rules governing medical-marijuana production and are looking to the state legislature for clarification... [More]
See, if we start with the assumption that the purpose of government is to "secure the Blessings of Liberty," a lot of the confusion--as well as resulting "Only Ones" problems--just kind of goes away.

Molding Young "Authorized Journalists"

Congress has been debating a law that would legalize the possession of firearms on college campuses for individuals with concealed weapons permits. [More]
Aside from the obvious fact that the disjointed ramblings sound like those of an ignorant child, and that being made fun of because you're fat or redheaded means you can't be trusted with a gun, there's this little matter, which I called to the attention of the editors:

Naturally, there has been no reply or clarification. It sounds like young Stewart is learning exactly the kind of journalistic accuracy and ethics they teach at Saginaw Valley State. That ought to serve him well if he follows this career path.

Questions About Fort Hood Shooter You Won't Hear from 'Mainstream' Press

In his position as a medical professional treating and diagnosing soldiers with mental health issues, both at Walter Reed and at Fort Hood, did Dr. Hasan report any veterans to the federal government for entry into the NICS "prohibited persons" database? In other words, have "gun control" laws enabled a mass shooter to cause the government to disarm others? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes the "Authorized Journalists" aren't asking certain questions.

We're the Only Ones Offended Enough

Chicago aldermen with their noses out of joint Friday demanded to know why they are searched along with the masses at the city's central headquarters for administrative hearings. [More]
How dare you not recognize out superior "Only One" status. Who do you mistake us for? Someone stupid enough to give us power?

And doesn't this just say something?
It's not a matter of giving anybody any preference. But us that are aldermen -- we are the ones who set your budget.
Forget it, Jake, it's Chi-Town. Which, with this attitude, makes me think of 1793 Paris for some reason...

We're the Only Ones Filching Files Enough

As defense attorney Joanne Cuccia discusses her client's sentencing hearing with the judge, Maricopa County Sheriff's Department detention officer Adam Stoddard walks up behind her, and begins sifting through one of her files, which she has placed on the defense table. Remarkably, Stoddard then removes a document from the file and hands it off to another deputy, who then leaves the courtroom with it. They don't even bother to inform Cuccia, who has her back turned the entire time. The judge appears to have missed the incident as well.

But it was all captured on video...[More]
Document control, "Only Ones"-style...

We're the Only Ones Using Officer Discretion Enough

Normand said Casimir told the driver he would not arrest her if she performed a sex act. [More]
Is that discreet enough for you, sweetie?

I don't see what the complain is--most of the time when the "Only Ones" screw you, there's no payoff at the end.

For anyone not crouching down behind the Brady "glory" hole, that is...

We're the Only Ones Dismissed Enough

A Cook County judge today threw out an indictment against a Chicago Police officer accused of falsifying drunken driving arrests. [More]
If it's not acceptable department protocol, it's union rules.

That's why they're the "Only Ones" charged with enforcing laws on the rest of us and you're not. Even if they have to lie about it.

I want my Garrity! (Talk about your opportunity for a Dire Straits parody!)

Forget it, Jake, it's Chi-Town.

And your town...

Truth in Sentencing

A man caught having sex with a horse in a South Carolina stable has been sentenced to three years in prison. [More]
I can't figure out why the disparity.

Do you think it's because it was a horse and not calves that they went...uh...harder on him?

Or might it have been something else?

The Source?

"Just because a soldier lives near Fort Campbell, doesn't mean it came from that facility," Cavanaugh said. [More]
True enough, "Waco Jim," but it does add another insight...

Interesting stuff going on at Fort Campbell these days...

Does Padilla Shooting Mean Athletes Should Swear Off Guns?

There are risks associated with not having guns, too, you know. Sometimes terrible ones. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner looks at yet another anti-gun "sportswriter" advocating ignorance and avoidance. Which shows how much he knows...

This Day in History: November 5

But today, propelled by items of popular culture like the hit film ‘V’ for Vendetta, Britons have a take on Guy Fawkes that is much at odds with the historical one. Once Fawkes was a symbol of the traitor within. The people were called to be on guard against his like. No longer. Today Guy Fawkes is increasingly viewed as the heroic figure prepared to stand against an unjust and oppressive state, as a martyr and a victim of torture. [More]

Taken to Task

Anthony P. Mauro, Sr., the head of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance, thinks I have a "vivid imagination and a pricey laptop," and that, apparently, has more bearing on my calling out their endorsement of Chris Christie than, say, his sending out a campaign mailer lying about "assault weapons" and calling for them to be banned.

I've invited him to respond and promised him a column if he does.

See his initial objections in comments here.
