A Man of... No, It Can't Be "God"

No one was "brandishing" their guns. [More]

I know. I was there. And you brought it all on yourselves.

The closest anyone came was some idiot "real reporter" asking people to take their guns out of their holsters for the camera, and event organizers warned the crowd about that as soon as they heard a "real reporter" had no idea why that's not a good idea.

You're either a liar or an ignoramus, "Reverend."

Do you even know what "brandishing" is?

UPDATE: And what the hell is a "fully loaded ammunition cartridge"?

Request for Assistance

I received this Facebook appeal message:
Looking for any stories preferably with video of legal firearm owners defending themselves with firearms in Ca. & as much as possible specific to S.F. bay area. Have a reporter with pretty big name offering to potentially do a story on it when I get him vids. Any help or ref.s you may have will be greatly appreciated...
My thoughts are they are not likely to find all that many DGU stories in that region due to anti-gun laws, including near-impossibility for anyone who is not connected to get a concealed carry permit.  Still, there are some. I'm surprised a  "big name" reporter wouldn't have the research savvy to start here, but I guess that's the difference between "Authorized Journalists" and #justablogger.

Anyway, if you know of any other resources or stories, please educate us via comments, and I'll pass the link to this post along to my correspondent.  I'd like to see what "offering to potentially do a story" means.

I would caution if you have a personal story, make sure your attorney says it's OK to share it.

UPDATE: Video here.   That took a minute.  I have to believe a "real reporter" could find other source material.

The Canons of Journalism

Bergen Record Reporter Covers Anti Gun Orgs Without Disclosing His Affiliation With Them [More]
That's why Dianne Feinstein would consider him a "real reporter," Joe Biden would consider his paper part of "legitimate news media," and anyone with principles should consider him a Fourth Estate Fifth Columnist.

Want a good laugh, or depending on your point of view, a good cry?

Without a Trace of Objectivity

Ohio Wants to Give Gun Owners More Civil Rights Protections Than Gay Workers [More]
What'cha talkin' 'bout,Willis? Apples and oranges (or in this case, oysters and snails)? Gays would have the same protection to have a gun in their car as everyone.

It's telling, seeing the depths of "fake news" these people will stoop to in order to render their countrymen defenseless. No wonder -- look who "owns" The Trace, and by default, "reporter" Alex Yablon:
The Trace is an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan news organization ... Seed funding was provided by the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund and the Joyce Foundation...
That's some "independence"! And he's a "real reporter," too -- unlike us unworthies, his stuff stays up on Google News.

It's a big club 'n all...

We're Number One ... Uh ... Not Quite

What displays are the top ten spots for each category. I typically place somewhere in the middle column along with Dave and Kurt, and we regularly migrate over to the column on the left. As for the column on the right, I just can't crack the top ten, as dogs, celebrity fitness and video games seem to be what are on the "minds" of most of our countrymen.

Part of the problem involves the Examiner website itself. I continue to receive complaints about pop-ups and autoplay videos, along with accusations of spreading malware and unnecessarily hostile parting words about never returning.

All I can say is, it doesn't happen to me with Firefox and ad block, and Examiner isn't the only website that uses such aggressive (and admittedly obnoxious) revenue-generating schemes to keep the lights on. It would seem to everyone's advantage if we all took the time to learn how to safely and responsibly surf the web without having our browsers hijacked, and that ought to be considered just basic standard practice. Or do people think learning and practicing self-defense doesn't extend in this, as well?

In case anyone hasn't noticed, we're in an ideological civil war that looks increasingly like it could go hot. To show up for virtual muster without mastery of equipment, accoutrements and skills is the virtual equivalent of attending a real one with the same insufficiency.

To those who won't, good luck getting the information a handful of us provide elsewhere.

And to all who think I should just move to a "better" site, I'd be grateful if you could help me do that.  The reality is, the only gig a guy like me could ever get with a "legitimate media/ Authorized Journalist/ real reporter" newspaper would be delivering them.

Bloomberg 'background check' expansion to Nevada part of warned-against plan

Significantly, the KTNV "legitimate news media / real reporter" story mentioned none of this. I guess letting Nevadans know outside special interests are trying to buy an election isn't newsworthy and/or doesn't help advance the agenda. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes the story behind the story that the media is ignoring, once more illustrating through a real "case study" why it is critical for gun rights advocates to be force multipliers and share information the establishment will not.

Can't We Cut the Gal Some Slack?

The Bloomberg "real reporter" probably didn't mean to type "high magazine rounds." [More]

My guess is, she probably meant to type "cop-exploding air torpedoes of war" or something that makes sense.

You know, something that'll cook a deer from the inside:

The Santa Barbara Establishment

I'm sorry, but "Independent" just doesn't seem accurate.

They'll post pressers like this, and letters like this, and "news" like this, but it seems they won't lift a finger to advise their readers of a long-simmering and reemerging controversy like this.

More "Authorized Journalist / real reporter / legitimate news media sins of omission."  No wonder more and more are climbing over, digging under and going around self-styled "sophisticated" gatekeepers.

Alan to the Rescue!

The resolution calls for measures that includes expanding enforceable background checks for all commercial sales, improving the nation’s mental health system and making gun trafficking and straw purchasing — when a person buys a gun for someone who cannot purchase one for themselves — a federal crime. [More]
You know, registration, blanket dragnets and violating Question 11.a. on the 4473, the one with the clear warning:
I understand that answering “yes” to question 11.a. if I am not the actual buyer is a crime punishable as a felony under Federal law, and may also violate State and/or local law.
How heads-up of you to catch that, "Authorized Journalist/real reporter" Eric Bradley!

Oh...you didn't?

Ah well, no matter.  I'm sure my once-former city of residence will be safer for it, as these guys and these guys trip all over themselves trying to oblige us all.

UPDATE:  Oh, look--here's Alan trying to "express...sense."   A "0%" prognosis for even getting past committee, let alone passed? So what the hell are Alan and Eric doing stirring everybody up...?

Oh...right.

Must Be Your Lying Eyes Again

Chuck Todd: There is no liberal media bias [More]

Hey, the guy is a professional "real reporter," and if there was any fire to this smoke, who is better qualified to find it?

The thing is, I wouldn't be surprised to find most of these cultists believe it.

A Sipsey Street Exclusive

Mike has exclusive observations on "sensitive investigative matters". [More]

And exclusive documentation to back them up.

It can't be important though, because no "real reporter" will touch it.

And the Taliban Prize for Destroying Buddhist Statues Goes To...

Michael Paul Williams, a veteran journalist at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary Friday for a series of “penetrating and historically insightful columns" about the process of dismantling the city's Confederate monuments. [More]

That's not all he wants to dismantle.

Looks like you don't even have to be a "real reporter" to get one of those babies. Just tell 'em what they want people to hear and toss your hat in (as long as you present a profile they can signal their inclusiveness with)!

We're the Only Ones Unretentive Enough

Ferguson Walmart shoplifting suspects grab officer’s gun [More]

Did he actually do it or did he just "try"?

Not being a "real reporter," I sometimes have trouble keeping up.

The Things You Need to Believe if You're a "Real Reporter/Legitimate Media/Authorized Journalist"

That's right, Christina Sterbenz of Business Insider: Our rights were given to us by a comma. [More]

Good girl. Here's your salary.

A Real Reporter

Appealing to the Better Angels of Their Nature

‘Don’t carjack me, kids inside’: Woman creates car magnet after crime spike [More]

She assumes they can read? If they can, why not just have them say "Guaranteed defenseless"?

This thing writes itself!

"Real reporter" Kenny Lopez: How do you assure everyone "these magnets are sending a powerful message" with a straight face? I guess the question here is, are you that dumb or do you just know your audience to be?

We're the Only Ones "Let the Punishment Fit the Crime" Enough

Does it? [More]

Be nice, considering multiple "real reporter" news outlets have been covering this story, if someone would care enough to stop just rewording statements and press releases and tell us what the hell the "parts" were.

For instance, any ATF-designated "firearms" in the loot...?

We're the Only Ones More Concerned Enough

"Every time our officer stops someone, there is concern someone has a gun. Now we have to be more concerned about who has a gun," he said. [More]
Hey, if you can't do the job, quit, whiner.

In re the Timmons quote stirring up so much outrage, as big of an authoritarian mudhead as the guy obviously is, in the video he said "automobile is not part of your home," not "your automobile is not your property," as the "real reporter" wrote.  I believe the simplest explanation is carelessness/laziness on the part of the "Authorized Journalist."

UPDATE:  This version has the written quote matching a more complete video quote:
"I don't think this has anything to do with the second amendment rights when you have the right to carry a weapon off your property," said Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriffs' Association, Bobby Timmons.  "An automobile is not a part of your home. It's a part of the public property."
Funny thing about the ASA--guess what they prominently display on their website?

Why did the alarm on my Weaselword Detector just go off?

We're the Only Ones Prematurely Discharging Enough

Hartford Officer Shot In Arm By Accidental Discharge Of Gun ... A police officer's gun accidentally discharged ... the officer whose gun discharged ... one of their guns discharged ... [More]
I guess "real reporter" Crystal Hall repeated it enough times to where we can reach no other conclusion other than it was the gun's fault. I mean, what other explanation could there be?

Much Ado About Nothing

CNN's Josh Campbell got inside access to a new task force in Washington using cutting-edge technology to identify and lock up shooters before they strike again. [More]

But they didn't do that, did they?

Instead, we get gushing praise for ATF's Mobile Boondoggle Wagon that appears to have all the resource-wasting promise of Chipman's Shotpotter scan.

Who thinks any of these crimes will trace back to anyone who completed a transfer record?

Instead, what I see is a crack tech tainting evidence by rendering recovered shell casings inadmissible for fingerprints, as if gangbangers glove up before loading magazines:

And when the goal of reducing shootings doesn't happen?

No worries. They'll demand more citizen disarmament and, importantly, more money.

And CNN will send another metrosexual "real reporter" in to gush.
