TV panel discusses Mexican hunting dangers and inhumane Humane Society practices

Two topics were selected for discussion, the first being hunting in Mexico, often under armed guards due to cartel terror (with a segue into Fast and Furious), and the second being the blackmail-style pressure the Humane Society of the United States brings to bear on conservation charities to not accept contributions from hunters. Their ruthlessness is shocking, and it actually works against their advertised mission and creates a devastating and wholly unjustifiable extinction threat to endangered species. We're the Only Ones Humane Enough

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo shuttered a Yonkers humane society Tuesday, saying it was a sham group created just to give guns and badges to 16 men with no interest in actually helping animals. [More]

No? So what were they interested in?

Among the members was former Greenburgh cop Erik Ward, who was fired for misconduct after dominatrix Gina Pane alleged that he offered to help her with a marijuana conviction if she would perform sex acts for him.

"He wanted to go to a motel in the Bronx where I would defecate on him, but I told him I was uncomfortable going to the Bronx..."

As far as comfort level preferences go, she has a point.

Be Kind to Animals...

I'm trying to reconcile the right of all to keep and bear arms and my natural inclination to treat animals humanely against the actions of intrusive social engineers forcing themselves on people and dictating how they treat their property.

The Humane Society is not one of my favorite organizations, particularly with their anti-hunting activism.

As has been demonstrated to anyone willing to see for themselves, the "Humane Society" is anything but.  As with all things Prozi, every day is Opposite Day. The ruthless, blackmail-style pressure they bring to bear on conservation charities to not accept contributions from hunters actually works against their advertised mission and creates a devastating and wholly unjustifiable extinction threat to endangered species.

I'm sure there are many at the "Humane" Society who would favor giving up human seats to animals. What's outrageous is that things came to this.

It's a further example of the utter ineptness in administration leadership that we see unfolding every day. In the Silver Lining Department, as wannabe totalitarians go, these guys project incompetence and weakness.

If they really wanted to increase species populations, they'd encourage breeding as livestock to supply the market demand for commodities like ivory.

Instead,  animal conservation is actually impeded by ruthless blackmail tactics employed by "progressive" groups like the Opposite Day "Humane Society." They'd rather have bans and taxes to pay for exclusive "Wildlands" access by the elite.

And if identical principles were invoked, why would slaughtering captive domesticated animals be permitted in Casey's world?

National Parks Comments Extended

The goal of their strategy is clear. Extending the public comment period amounts to a blatant and intentional stalling tactic; further pushing back resolution on this matter, possibly until after the election, into a new Administration. This needless extension will also allow opponents of carrying guns in national parks (like the Humane Society of the U.S. and the National Parks Conservation Association) to rally their troops to express their opposition to this commonsense proposal.

The antis are trying to stack the deck, and they need an extension to mobilize. Regular readers know I've been bugging them to weigh in on this for months.

We're the Only Ones Virtually Trippy Enough

Being crazy is hard, but it's worth the effort. Especially if you're a cop, paramedic, or social worker who may someday need to deal with a person having a psychotic episode. At those times, empathy can be crucial.

That's where Virtual Hallucinations comes in. The training device, created by Janssen L.P., is a rig with earphones and goggles that plunges the wearer into the mind of a serious schizophrenic. The system offers two interactive scenarios. In one, you're riding a bus in which other riders appear and disappear, birds of prey claw at the windows, and voices hiss, "He's taking you back to the FBI!"

Well this certainly looks like another ingenious way to blow taxpayer plunder--I could have done this training for them at a fraction of the cost with a couple hits of windowpane and some latex demon masks.

For some reason, making "The Only Ones" feel at one with schizophrenics strikes me as an idea that could somehow backfire. I wonder if they're going to make sure no one is wearing their gun belt during these induced psychosis sessions, and if they have credible data proving no lasting effects--plus a reliable methodology for ensuring their scenario subjects aren't already on the edge.

Truth is, if someone is having a psychotic episode where they are endangering themselves and others, there's very little you can do at that moment beyond restraining or otherwise stopping him. I'm all for more humane ways to do that. But that seems more a matter of appropriate use of force training than staggering a mile in a virtual lunatic's shoes.

Still, if they're going to have this danged contraption, why not employ it in a way that could benefit a much larger section of society? Why not devise a scenario to develop empathy for citizens having their rights violated?
