Yep. The Republican YouTube debate will be hosted by CNN in November.

So I wrote to them via their website contact form:

I got back this form reply:



Did'ja get that part?

So what if they get hundreds of comments urging them to "Play Tom Gresham and Clint Smith's question in the YouTube Republican Debate"? What if they get thousands with just that simple message?

And what if gun blogs like this one joined in the call, and CNN knew it would be documented if they avoided presenting the single most relevant Second Amendment-related question I can envision being asked of a presidential candidate? How could they justify suppressing this, especially in light of their taking great pains to select the guy who calls his guns his "babies" in the Democrat debate, with the express intent of portraying gun owners negatively?

It will literally take you one minute to do this.

One of the problems we saw with our August 28 ammo buy is there simply was not enough time to mobilize a nation of gun owners between when the idea was proposed and "Game Day." Well now we have plenty of lead time--but that's no reason to put this off, because if we do, we'll forget about it.

I urge all WarOnGuns visitors to take a moment right now and contact CNN at the above link. I urge my fellow gunbloggers to get their readers on board.

One caveat--I'm not trying to horn in on Tom and Clint's great idea, so I'm not asking for anyone to link to this post. Just pass the YouTube video in the title link and the CNN contact link along to gun owners and the mission will be accomplished. But I would appreciate visitors to this blog to leave me a comment telling me you took a minute to do this.

Did CNN Just Commit a "Gun Crime"?

Freedom Sight points us to a discussion over at The Claire Files. Apparently, a reporter at anti-gun CNN just committed a federal felony by purchasing a .50 cal. rifle without going through all the “legal” transfer requirements. Either that or he did, and he’s not disclosing it in his story to make it look like just anybody can do this.

Damsels in Distress

Charles Williams, who works in technology services for Turner, saw a man dragging a woman by the hair one level above where the shooting occurred. The man told him to get out of the way. Williams went to get a guard, and then saw the man apparently take the woman downstairs. He heard gunshots less than a minute later.

Then there's this account:

The witness, who had gone to get help from a guard, then heard the gunfire...

John Helton, a CNN.com producer, had a direct view of the gunman through glass doors. "I saw him coming down the escalator pulling her along, around the corner; he ran into the plant and that's when they started struggling," he said...Helton said the woman appeared to be shot at point-blank range. "He looked like he had the gun right on top of her head and shot her."

After the shots, CNN.com writer Brad Lendon said, the gunman "looked around, his head turning in my direction. I don't know if he saw me, but at that moment the gravity of what I'd witnessed hit me. I turned away and tried to find the safest way I could out."

The gunman was then shot by Capt. Odell Adams, who joined Turner Security in 1996, according to a spokesperson for Turner, the parent company for CNN.

Once members of the citizen militia no longer realize that's what they are, dismiss and disparage the concept of being part of one, and have no intention of being prepared to protect even themselves much less their communities at large, they're in no position to become anything but victims or escapees in a time when a defense-minded citizen is exactly what is needed. The herd bolts and runs while the predator brings down its prey.

"Men" seek other men to save them, that is, to have the others put their lives at risk because they will not.

And what did it take to stop the killer? A man with a gun. As usual.

CNN has exclusively obtained a cover of the book, which has been a closely guarded secret until now and will be released November 19 by Twelve, a division of the Hachette Book Group. The author will remain anonymous, and sources familiar with the book tell CNN that "elaborate precautions have been taken to protect the author's identity." [More]

So we have no way of assessing his credibility for ourselves and we're just supposed to take the word of demonstrable agitprop producers not even hiding their desire to pull off a media coup that it's all objective and good?

A Missed Bulls-Eye, Indeed

In a YouTube video, a Michigan man brandished an automatic rifle, saying “This is my baby. Are you going to protect my baby?”

"Authorized journalist" Steve Terrell did get one thing right--not about his panty-wringing hysterics, or his ignorance (or intentional deception) by referring to "an automatic rifle," but in his observation that Gov. Richardson missed a great opportunity.

He should have chastised the questioner for performing an agenda-driven stunt. He should have demanded the guy's background be looked into, to see if he was really a gun rights advocate or a mole from the other side trying to make gun owners look like lunatics. He should have also chastised CNN for allowing a question designed to push so many buttons through without also allowing for a rational question about the rights and responsibilities of gun ownership to be made--it's not like the network didn't sift through all submissions to pick and reject based on their own subjective criteria.

And what the hell does "purchased under the 1994 gun ban" mean? That was a restricting, not an authorizing edict.

Anybody from Michigan hunting, shooting or gun rights communities know this Jered Townsend character? If he is one of "ours," tell him he came off like a moron and did us immeasurable public relations harm. If, as I suspect, he's a plant with an agenda, we should know that, too.

Gee, I wonder if CNN will do the follow-up to find out? Holding your breath, anyone?

And isn't it pathetic that potential leaders of our Republic are little more than contestants in a combination of "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" and "America's Funniest Home Videos"?

That said, the bit about the computer programmer from Texas tithing to Fairfax, the subject of another CNN piece, elicited a response from WarOnGuns Correspondent Laocoön. I don't see where his comment was allowed, so I need to post it here rather than link to it: :

1. The NRA raises $400 MILLION dollars a year, most of it wasted and stuffed into the pockets of greedy staff, sweetheart vendors, corrupt directors, phony "pro gun" politicians, and other parasites who don't give crap one about 2A or are actually working passive-aggressively to destroy 2A and the USA itself.

2. Wayne LaPierre's "package", the disclosed part of it anyway, is over $2 million; Pepe LaPew's pay alone is about the size of the entire budget of Gun Owners of America. 

3. There is no such thing as a pro-gun Democrat politician. ALL Democrats are working for gun control and the destruction of the USA. Every last one. There is no such thing as a Dem who never supports openly anti-gun Dems for other offices (e.g., President), never votes to confirm anti-gun nominations for judiciary and enforcement positions (e.g., Sotomayor, Kagan, Holder), never votes for gun grabbers for leadership positions (e.g., Pelosi Galore, The Harry Reid), never votes for the cultural terraforming and takeover of the USA through over-immigration, invasion, occupation, de facto amnesty and de jure amnesty. 

4. The NRA passive-aggressively works for the permanent destruction of the Republican party, 2A and the USA in countless ways. For example, the NRA donates millions of dollars, alongside Michael Bloomberg and Rupert Murdoch, to defeat true conservatives in the primaries and re-elect corrupt RINOs. For example, NRA donated hundreds of thousands defeating Chris McDaniel in Mississippi & re-electing corrupt RINO Thad Cochran, and trying to defeat Dave Brat & re-elect Cantor in Virginia. 

5. Bloomberg collaborator, Islamophile, open-immigration/amnesty subversive, Left-"Libertarian" phony tax reformer Grover Norquist is the darling of the NRA board of directors. 

6. The suicidal immigration policies passive-aggressive supported by the NRA and actively supported by Norquisling are in the process of causing irreversible cultural and political terraforming of the USA. Within 20 years the Dems will have permanent supermajority control of the federal government and a supermajority of the states. Enough to win every key legislative battle, nomination battle, judicial battle and enforcement battle. Enough to control all arms of government including executive, legislative, judiciary, police, "security", spy, and military. Enough to legally change the Constitution at will. So say goodbye to your guns, liberty, country, quality of life, culture, property, standard of living, etc.

During the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Georgia World Congress Center and the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center in accordance with Georgia law.  However, firearms are not allowed in the remainder of the CNN Center, including the food court and shops.  When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws. More than Wishful Thinking

A Question of Credibility

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night's town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a "scripted question," quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards. [More]

CNN's John Roberts quoted a Gun Rights Examiner column in his "American Morning" interview with Pastor Kenneth Pagano...[More]

I typically don't do two GRE posts in one day, but then again, it's not every day I find out CNN quoted me in an interview. The other thing I like about this is it's the first time national televised media has broached the "Only Ones" concept.

So far, I haven't seen if they posted the video, as opposed to the transcript. If anyone finds out, please let me know. I'm curious to find out if he pronounced my name right.
