Just said goodbye to one set of out-of-state relatives on Monday and another set arrived this morning. Plus I have a Guns Magazine article due. And three books in the queue for reviews. And the Gun Rights Examiner column.
WoG posting will probably be limited until next week. Please understand if I do not respond to or post tips from emails.
In the mean time, if you're looking for something to do, head on over to my GRE pages and entertain yourself with my new troll. He promises to have me arrested!

As Long as We're Scrutinizing...
The Vatican is quietly conducting two sweeping investigations of American nuns, a development that has startled and dismayed nuns who fear they are the targets of a doctrinal inquisition. [More]I don't suppose you guys have a couple minutes to devote to Snuffy...?
We're the Only Ones Targeted Enough
He was referring to the voluntary training session, in which officers took turns standing next to a target while another officer, a football field away, took aim and fired...Range safety, "Only Ones"-style...
County officials also were concerned that when they tried to look at recordings from the surveillance cameras at the shooting range, they discovered that the cameras had been turned toward the sky or disconnected. They also had been told about an instance in which two officers were seen firing at the berm that separates two parts of the shooting range. [More]
And nice touch with the cameras.

Down at the Sunset Grill
A well-known Nashville restaurant and bar owner plans to sue today to stop the state's new guns-in-bars law from taking effect later this month. [More]Just make sure all gun owners know what Randy Rayburn thinks of them, and reward him accordingly.
Maybe he'll get a sign like the one at Dukes...
An Attempt at Snark
Here's all you need to know:
And speaking of guns in churches (hey, I include links for a reason), everybody's seen this, right?
David Martin lives in Ottawa, Canada [More]Fortunately, these fine people prove the human quest for freedom is not so easily snuffed out.
And speaking of guns in churches (hey, I include links for a reason), everybody's seen this, right?
We're the Only Ones "Sexy Time!" Enough
Perry Township Police Chief Timothy Escola resigned this week after a tipster called and said the Chief was having sexy time in his police cruiser with a part-time police officer. [More]Isn't that romantic? And having a prisoner in the back seat must have heightened their passion to levels only an "Only One" can ever know.
Celebrating Our Independence BATFU-Style
The public is urged to report illegal sales of professional-grade fireworks or other explosive devices such as M-80s to their local police department and to ATF by calling 1-888-ATF-BOMB, or 1-888-283-2662. Callers can remain anonymous. [More]Thanks, BATFU! Yeah, that's GOTTA be what the Founders had in mind to celebrate our Independence.
Right Mr. Adams?
It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.Never mind.

We're the Only Ones with a Blank Stare Enough
A Collin County judge at a training exercise got a very real shot in the face. The shot came from a gun loaded with blanks, but the damage was nearly blinding. But he was blinded by the light....
The exercise Saturday involved Collin County sheriff deputies, court staff and McKinney police. [More]

Government Dismisses Charge Against Gun Owner

So where does this leave us? After years of harassment, including holding him for 23 days, confiscating his property, ordering him not to possess firearms, forcing him to surrender his passport and to post a $250,000 bond, and spending--exactly how much in legal costs for both sides?--the government simply files a motion to dismiss the indictment?Today's Gun Rights Examiner column brings you news on a case that been ongoing for years. The feds tried to destroy this guy and now they drop an indictment without a word of explanation. And after having demonized him, the media is completely AWOL on bringing this conclusion to our attention.
And that's supposed to be it? [More]

This Day in History: July 2
July 2, 1777 at Fort Ticonderoga, New York - On July 2, at 3:00 P.M., the advanced elements of Brig. Gen. Simon Fraser's light infantry began sniping at the American position. This provoked a furious series of volleys. When the smoke cleared, no one had been injured on either side. Brig. Gen. Baron von Riedesel pushed forward to the marshy banks of Eagle Creek at the foot of Mount Independence. Here, his men came under fire from American batteries on the heights. This engagement ended in an indecisive conclusion. Conclusion: Draw [More]

'Pro-gun Pastor' Defends Requirement for Unloaded Firearms

CNN's John Roberts quoted a Gun Rights Examiner column in his "American Morning" interview with Pastor Kenneth Pagano...[More]I typically don't do two GRE posts in one day, but then again, it's not every day I find out CNN quoted me in an interview. The other thing I like about this is it's the first time national televised media has broached the "Only Ones" concept.
So far, I haven't seen if they posted the video, as opposed to the transcript. If anyone finds out, please let me know. I'm curious to find out if he pronounced my name right.
And please share this with a friend or two...
The Wrong Question
Should guns be allowed in schools? [More]What did Mr. Pynchon say?
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.See, it's not anybody's place to "allow" me to exercise my rights.

Pleasestopgunviolence.com?
I got a spam email from a site that calls itself--depending on how you access it-- pleasestopgunviolence.com or firearmsfax.com. [More]
As near as I can figure, they want you to pay them to register your guns. That way, you can volunteer to do what some of us have been fighting having forced on us. Or something.
Their "About Us" tab doesn't really tell us much. I did a "Who Is" lookup, and the site is registered to one Frank Sciarra, who I've never heard of as being anyone of significant achievement in the ongoing RKBA struggle. True, they have forums where gun rights are discussed, so I don't want to cast unwarranted suspicion on their efforts.
Thing is, their visitor stats at this writing say:

In total there is 1 user online :: 0 registered, 0 hidden and 1 guest (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)Based on that, I'd assess this as nothing to get excited about, but certainly also nothing I'd be interested in signing up for. I keep my own secured records of what I own.

Experience a Real City
Seven teenagers were wounded — three critically — after they were sprayed with gunfire this afternoon by two masked men at a bus stop near Cody 9th Grade Academy on the city’s west side. [More]Now that it's in the news and all, I wonder if the Detroit Police will report it...? Hell, I wonder if they've reported themselves yet. In between anomalies.
Ahhh...Pure Michigan!

We're the Only Ones Who Really Know How to Treat a Lady Enough
"If you're going to act like a woman I'm going to treat you like a woman."They're so cute when they get mad when "Only Ones" manhandle and feel 'em up, aren't they?
..."He punched me in the back (there are bruises), he handcuffed me, and in the scuffle grabbed my breasts and pinched them." [More]
I don't know what she's so upset about--it's not like they shot her dog.

We're the Only Ones with the Lamest Story Enough
The lamest so far came from a police officer: He said he bought a few military-style rifles, left them in his car and — on the same night — forgot to lock a door. He couldn’t explain why he didn’t file a police report or why he visited Mexico the day after the alleged theft. [More]I'm sure he had noble reasons. After all, that's why guys like him are the "Only Ones"... and we're not.
[Via Jeffersonian and a bunch more of you I noticed after I posted this]
Cursing Their Luck
Many thought the shutdown of gambling halls would never happen. Casinos are now allowed only in designated, far-flung zones, leaving gamblers and workers cursing their luck. [More]They ought to be cursing "Pootie-Poot."
Still, there is hope:
For other games, many believed, there would be illegal gambling dens kept running with bribes to crooked authorities.Yep, just wait until the criminal underworld starts running everything. You guy's ain't seen nothin' yet. Makes me wonder how much they gave ol' Pootie to get him to pull this off for them.
Hey--maybe we can exploit the spike in "gun violence" that always comes with increased gangland activity to further calls for international gun controls!
Franken Senate Victory No Joke for Gun Owners

312 votes. And now this bad political joke will be played out on the rest of us. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at a Senate development that is no laughing matter.
