Senate approves Breuer supporter as head of OIG at Justice

With all the apparent issues and concerns at stake, and with the Department of Justice stonewalling Congressional oversight every step of the way, why is it appropriate to approve the administration’s strategically-picked nominee--the guy Obama and Holder want be in charge of future “Gunwalker” investigation efforts--without creating a record of “the names or numbers of senators voting on each side”? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a successful strike that apparently went under the radar. Ask yourself why you're probably not hearing about this from any place that has reach.

Why is White House blocking ‘Gunwalker’ testimony from former NSC director?

And we're supposed to believe the Special Agent in Charge at the heart of Fast and Furious "gunwalking" and the official who advises the president on matters of national security are just old pals shooting the breeze about border gunrunning--in emails that Newell took special pains to protect himself on? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report connects some dots and makes the case that Eric Holder is taking his stonewalling lead directly from the top.

Single-Handed

We talked about this earlier. They're giving him one gun back.  The other, they're still deciding on. [Read]

How nice, refreshing, and darn-near unheard of to see a mainstream reporter go to bat for gun owners.  Good job, Cindy George!

When Harry Met Elissa

“This response was based on my understanding of the state of federal law at the time." [More]
What, you're a frickin' judge, and you didn't know the Second Amendment is about "the right of the people to keep and bear arms"?

And Harry Reid wants us to swallow your backpedaling and put you  on the federal bench?

What more evidence does NRA need that LaPierre's "true champion of the Second Amendment" is an opportunistic, subversive partisan fraud, with a record that reflects pragmatic expediency as opposed to principle?

More on Yesterday's SAF Announcement

We linked to it yesterday. Now Eugene Volokh weighs in:
District Court Holds Second Amendment Applies Outside the Home, Strikes Down Ban on Gun Transportation During State of Emergency
Meanwhile, the irrelevant, desperate-for-attention antis are reduced to whining about NRA hoodies.  Hmmm...I wonder why their website doesn't mention this yet...?

Workman has more.

Furious Mike's* Self-Defense Tips

"Somebody's banging on your door and says, I'm going to come in and kill you...And this guy's got the gun out...You're better off not having a gun." [More]
Unless you're on Bloomingan's Island.
That's the police department's job.
Yeah, he said that, too. What, you don't have a taxpayer-funded armed security detail following you around?

Great "reporting" job there, "Authorized Journalists" Charlie Rose and Erica Hill. Your little brainwashing axis with Furious Mike is exactly what Eric Holder had in mind when he passed out the talking points.

Flying the Friendly Skies Redux

Jeez, no sooner do we get done flying business class and now we find our accommodations in disarray.

On top of that, the in-flight movie was unwatchable.

Just the folks I want peeping on, probing and groping my family.

Yeah, that's the real Roseanne, alright. [Read]

I like what Howard Stern said about (anti-gun) Tom Arnold.

Squatch-22

Despite being fined for lack of a permit, it would have been likely that Pruitt would not have been able to obtain one. [More]
And that's pretty much all we need to know about dealing with the federal bureaucracy.

Love Story

While I couldn't agree more that guns are simply tools, pretty much like any others, I don't know why that would make them unlovable. Most men love their tools, all different kinds, and men have always loved their guns. I'm certainly not ashamed to join those men. [More]
I confess I don't understand the passion and never have.  Long time readers know that.  I like 'em ok, and enjoy shooting to a degree, but I'll never be a true enthusiast--I've always considered practice more of a responsibility than a recreational activity.  I understand a lot of you are aficionados, but for me it's always been about the freedom, the principles, the utility and the choice.

As far as material possessions go, if my house were on fire, my first inclination would be to save the family pictures and videos.

Email Bleg

Is anyone getting an email purporting to be from From: "Caprii" with the subject " hopefully i havent sent you this yet‏"?

I just had one show up in my "Junk" file and need to figure out if it's just someone spoofing based on edresses not suppressed on somebody's "To" list (another reason why people need to use "BCC") or if someone has actually managed to hijack my address book.  Please advise.

Lions (No Tigers) and Bears, Oh My!

"(The cub) stood up on its hind legs and put its paws up and I got to play patty-cake with it," he said. [More]

Personally, I think this story smells like bear scat, but assuming it happened as told, I could not have blamed the mountain lion or the sow if this walking link in the food chain had succeeded in giving up his place in it to either one.

We're the Only Ones Platformed Enough

"Mr. Carillo emphatically indicated a gun was involved... that is very important. It sets the platform for the mindset of the responding officers." [More]
So if I want to have the "Only Ones" assassinate someone for me, that's all I've got to tell them?

What would be even sweeter is if I could remain anonymous and get them to pay me a bounty!

Dang, I'm glad folks like this are in charge. I haven't felt this protected by federal managers since Russell Vander Werf left the light on for us.
