Gun Owners of America has thrown its weight behind the Florida Second Amendment Protection Act. The proposed legislation would prohibit any state cooperation with federal acts that violate the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. “No agency of this state, political subdivision of this state, or employee of an agency or political subdivision acting in his or her official capacity, or corporation providing services on behalf of this state or a political subdivision of this state shall enforce any federal act, law, order, rule, or regulation of the federal government of the United States regarding a personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition within the limits of this State.”They include links to the draft bill as well as an executive summary and talking points here, along with action items they need help with.

In a chat session this month with the liberal magazine Texas Monthly, Cornyn revealed he and Lindsay Graham will introduce a bill strengthening the NICS federal gun owner registration database and place more Americans on lifetime gun ban lists. [More]Some in the "gun establishment" have been itching to use this as a sellout point since right after Newtown. I was privy to some insider conversations where the sentiment was our legislators have to give their constituents something. We know NSSF is behind it, and through a combination of carefully crafted weasel words here and tactical silence there, so is NRA.
I haven't seen the bill (I didn't find it yet on GovTrack) to compare how it actually reads against the allegations, but that doesn't change my position of not giving anything up through preemptive surrender. I don't care what it says, if it cedes an inch, then no.
They're feeling bold enough to do this because it's been green-lighted, and probably written, by the same genius minds who sold out "undetectable guns" and, years earlier, normal capacity magazines, a betrayal that would have given a distinct market advantage to positioned insiders.
Hey, remember when NRA was dragged kicking and screaming into promising they would score the Sotomayor vote? Lindsey? And Kagan? Lindsey?
How come they still give him an "A"?
Too bad some of us weren't successful at ginning up enough support when it was Holder's turn at bat, which was also good for Lindsey.

I just received this press release from CCDL:
Groton, CT- January 8th, 2014 The Connecticut Citizens Defense League (The state's largest grass roots 2nd Amendment rights group) Is speaking out against Mark Boughton's official bid for governor. CCDL President Scott Wilson stated the following: "Gun owners in Connecticut are not going to accept or vote for candidates that support gun control; especially ones seeking the highest of State offices". Wilson went on to say: "Mayor Boughton is a coalition member of an active anti-2nd Amendment organization (MAIG) that claims to support sensible gun reforms. In reality the group, 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' continually works to infringe on the rights of law abiding gun owners. The Mayor's statements about the recently passed gun laws, are also very troubling to gun owners in Connecticut".Hopefully, his collar won't be all that's blue.
