His involvement of St. Sabina Catholic Church in advocating for anti-gun legislation (and even involving himself in partisan politics) have earned him rebukes from the Church and even a suspension, but they’ve been afraid to replace him, fearing too many parishioners who place a collectivist “social justice” agenda over religion would follow him out the door. And so far, he’s managed to skate by without official scrutiny of his church’s tax exempt status. [More]Snuffy is still going full Pfleger. Never go full Pfleger.

Pfleger Gun Turn-In Raises Legality and Safety Questions
We're the Only Ones Cutting Short Enough
The Louisiana law enforcement officer found guilty of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy with autism has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. [More]He "feared" the guy was going to back up? It didn't actually happen?

Navajo Nation considers implementing gun registration [More]Shotguns and rifles? And if there were "automatic guns," wouldn't the CLEO have already signed off on them?
Just which criminals are tribal elders hoping to control?

If that's what it takes to "win," maybe an art contestant can write #ShallNotBeInfringed 100 times on his submission...?

More than 'Reputation' is at 'Risk'
But one thing is clear: Those who prize America’s Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, or who simply appreciate the many benefits of owning firearms, are no longer welcomed within the group’s ranks. [More]Like I said last time we talked about this:
Keep being stupid, fellas.[Via Michael G]
'The Founders Could Have Never Imagined'
But it is not true that repeating arms, which can fire multiple times without reloading, were unimagined in 1791. To the contrary, repeating arms long predate the 1606 founding of the first English colony in America. As of 1791, repeating arms were available but expensive. [More]You have to wonder how many who claim the contrary are actually clueless vs. how many know they're liars out to gin up ignorant indignation.
But they keep bringing it up anyway.

Attention Arizonans
Please contact Governor Ducey and urge him to sign SB 1344. [More]Come on. We're talking a few seconds here...
Rule of Thumb
I guess Amy ruined the old system for them.
Looks like guns aren't the only things she -- and her apologists -- are delusional about.
Fancy That
During the attack, the couple said the woman said she was "sick of fancy white people." [More]Leave it to our good friends the "Authorized Journalists" to refer to this as a "possible hate crime."

Enquiring Minds Want to Know
It's worth asking why the "mommies" and the NC Sheriff's Association are so interested in maintaining the Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permitting system... [More]I guess -- as long as you don't expect an honest answer out of them.
You Can But You Can't
The new law goes into effect immediately, BUT DO NOT CARRY outside your vehicle in Georgia until the Georgia Attorney General shows Virginia permits as being honored on his website. (The Georgia Attorney General is similar to our own Attorney General when it comes to guns and reciprocity. And, like our Attorney General, the Georgia General Assembly has just put him in his place.) [More]What, you mean the guy who was chief of staff for this "staunch defender of the Second Amendment" and appointed as AG by this " steadfast support[er] of the Second Amendment" is against the right of the people to bear arms...?
So I guess the "shall not be infringed" part is also off the table with him?
What the hell did he actually promise to do when he took that oath?

Congressional Art Contest Chance for ‘Young Guns’ to Honor Second Amendment
Why not encourage young people who have been raised to value the importance of the Second Amendment to enter the contest, potentially educate some of their peers, and show that a counter exists to indoctrinated “snowflakes”? Why not urge students to submit art promoting the right of the people to keep and bear arms? [More]Have you raised any high school students who understand the relationship between the right to keep and bear arms and their freedom after you're gone, and who are willing to help counter the control-enabling propaganda of their indoctrinated peers?

'Militia Terrorism'
Creates crime of militia terrorism. Punishes by maximum of five years’ imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. [More]Firearms Policy Coalition explains.
Those proposing this certainly seem confident their enforcers can make it work. But it sure doesn't make it attractive for those facing such charges to just give up.
I was getting ready to post this and saw a tangentially-related email from WarOnGuns Correspondent Mack H on how some in the conservative mainstream have declared we're in a civil war.
I've been referring to it as a "cold civil war" for years. Looks like the Prozis are bent on heating it up.
If they succeed, I'm not sure they'll be as personally unaffected as they appear to believe. There are people who have reached the Kennedy conclusion and aren't inclined to just roll over for in-their-faces ultimatums.

Incidentally, Leo Carrillo was an interesting guy. I'm catching up with old Cisco Kid episodes on Hulu before I fall asleep, so I thought I'd look him up. I also hadn't realized Duncan Renaldo was a soul brother.

Not So Young Turk -- But the Ambition is the Same
“Do you represent the NRA?” asked Representative Gerald Connelly, a Virginia Democrat, his voice rising. “Or do you represent the American people at the ATF? Turk began to answer, but Connelly cut him off. “I represent victims from Virginia Tech,” Connelly said, referencing a 2007 mass shooting at the university. “We buried 6 young people. And I couldn’t explain to them why an ATF … representative might think that legalizing silencers might be a good idea.” [More]And suppressors had exactly what to do with that, moron?
Aside from the fact that Connelly is a phonily self-righteous career stool sample whose idiotic subversion of 2A all but guarantees future Virginia Techs, I find two other points of interest here:
- Turk showed up this time.
- I can't quite figure if he's teaming up with AD Brandon to wag tails and lick the new master's hand, or if he's playing this solo, and if offering concessions is calculated to either propel him from Number Two to Number One -- or to keep him from being caught up in a purge.
UPDATE: Oops.
Not Exactly in Sync with Sun Tzu
All this has become something of a preoccupation for the 53-year-old Mr. Haidt. A longtime liberal—he ran a gun-control group as an undergraduate at Yale—he admits he “had never encountered conservative ideas” until his mid-40s. [More]Those who would tear down that on which they're completely ignorant are basically mindless vandals, which pretty much tracks with conclusions by those who have made efforts to understand the enemy.
At least when I engaged in directed destruction of knowledge, I had the basic awareness to know what I was doing, and to rue my role.

Bear arms, eh? OK, now try selling it without observing any regulations, professional liars.

Kiss THAT Job Goodbye
New Orleans police say an Uber driver has shot and wounded one of two men he told authorities had tried to carjack him. [More]Who's the boss here, anyway? Doesn't this insubordinate realize his "employers" would prefer to see him murdered than armed?
