Sometime during the course of your day, someone with a loaded weapon probably is near you. And those are just the legal weapons.I wouldn't make the automatic assumption that all the "illegal" ones, whatever that means, are necessarily bad.

I live in kalifornia - the gun I carry is "illegal" because "my" sherriff does not give permits EXCEPT TO HIS CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS.
I therefore have to carry a gun I am willing to have confiscated by the police and not the gun I prefer to carry.
I won't be disarmed but..... I am also NOT likely to come to the aid of anybody but my immediate family because who needs the aggrivation of stopping a crime and going to jail for it.
The population at large is safe when I carry but the sherrif has insured that I am not willing to provide aid to officers or other citizens - it's not worth it.
(*Maybe after HELLER I will be willing to tell the sheriff to F**K OFF!)
