Trying to reduce gun crime by rationing firearms to law abiding citizens is a little like trying to reduce stabbings by rationing steak knives to restaurant goers, which is why the Court found the ordinance to be irrational. The criminal misuse of any lawful product is not a function of the number of units sold to honest citizens; it's a function of how effectively society deals with those who misuse them.
Yeah, but you're assuming this issue will be decided based on rationality and morality.
I don't mean to sound cynical--this guy makes some great points. But like he says, "Only in New Jersey."
And when this has no effect whatsoever, watch Bryan Miller scream for more.

Before one-a-month came to Virginia courtesy of Gov. Doug Wilder, Virginia's only gun registration was voluntary (aside from Form 4473, of course). One-gun-a-month means the agency that verifies that you're eligible HAS TO have your name and other identifying data on file, or how do they know your 30 days has elapsed?
Rationing? Yes, but redundant registration as well. Another database for them to compare with FOID, recovered "crime' guns, whatever they want.
Here in Va., having a concealed handgun permit means you'r evempt from one a month, except in some jurisdictions where it doesn't. A violation of preemption law , but it seems to be OK.
