Based on what I saw and heard to the campaign, it didn't take much for the crowd, whether Blue or Red, to "go wild." If the speaker paused, they yelled. Pretty depressing stuff. There are crowds, then there are mobs and herds.

Wonderful little piece in the local paper today in the letters section. Lady expounded at length how whites could not possibly understand the burden imposed on the black race by white America and that there was no possible way for America to make amends for that abuse. She then went on to say that at least the election of Obama as the first African American president was a start.
So, I must conclude that at least in her mind this election was all about race to the exclusion of anything else.
I would discount her comments as coming from a bitter racist, but suspect that she would disagree and I would have that label cast back upon me instead.

I think the fellow wearing the shirt probably knew full well that he would, at the very least, probably be arrested or, at the other end of the spectrum, be severely beaten. And, the police played directly into his hand.

Ghandi and King taught that civil disobedience can be a very effective tool if one is willing to run the risk of arrests, beatings and death.

History indicates that there will be many more instances of the only ones' displays of intolerance and many more of their violations of "Constitutionally protected" actions before this war is won.

Until the state bans video cams, and the internet along with guns we will see more and more U-tube videos of Obama-mama inspired violence directed at non-violent civil disobedience.

Uncle Lar, the woman you reference in your comment should be proud of the young man wearing the McCain-Palin T-shirt, but somehow I doubt that she would recognize the significance.
