Gun Control Not the Answer

Making new laws to limit Americans’ right to bear arms will only make the problem of violent crime even worse. [More]
We know that. It appears that's beyond some of the idiot comment posters, though.

I talked over the weekend about appreciating good "Authorized Journalists." Why not head on over and lend Mr. Schuver some moral and factual support in the "comments" section--right after you let him know you appreciate his giving public voice to this important message...?

There's a lot of useful idiots out there who love the kool aid they drink. They honestly believe no matter what the case and how fast its happening. Calling 911 will bring a brave police officer who will save the day.
Frankly, I can not get that film clip out of my mind from VA Tech with all those "fat" every single one of them fat as whales hiding behind trees as gun shots kept going off. Serve and Protect went down the toilet that day to, Seek out and Hide. Had I been a LE that day and did that I would be unable to live with myself. Any decent man that took an oath to serve their fellow citizen, needed to have got into that building and save those kids lives.
Decent folks have every right to be armed, end of story.

AJ, I have been led to understand that some officers did immediately seek entry into the building, unlike at Columbine. The doors were chained. So, not all of them failed their duty. All of them failed to save anybody. I can't rightfully say that it is their fault, except in the fact that they would and do arrest anybody who would carry a firearm for protection in that environment, even though that requires them to break their oath to the constitution. We can lay that sin at their feet.

For it is that sin that made the high victim count not only possible, but probable.

Thanks, straightarrow, you beat me to it.

AvgJoe, keep in mind that it was only 8 minutes from the first 911 call - which went to the wrong dispatch center - to the time the police found a door they could break through to enter Norris Hall. By the time the TV cameras got there (about 10-15 minutes, at the earliest), there were already officers inside working to clear the building, and the officers they showed were doing exactly what they should have been doing in that situation.

As far as "fat"? Yeah, some of them could stand to lose some weight, but for the others, keep in mind that the vest and utility belt add the appearance of about 30 pounds. I've seen some of these guys off duty, and it always surprises me how much bulk the vest alone adds.

"Once you concede that the government has a right to regulate who, where, when and what kind of arms the people can bear, the question becomes one of striking a balance between public safety and a person's right to responsible gun ownership."

"Concede"? "Right to regulate"? Just what the hell is this idiot talking about? Why can't these people understand "shall not be infringed"?

because WWW, they are not idiots but enemies who wish to enslave us.
