And There Was War in Heaven

Preemption or "home rule" CCW? [More]

Funny--I don't see a third option...

This is one of the worst things I have ever seen. Of course the NRA execs who came up with their position live in Virginia, not Illinois.

rights universal, actuation local.

the incorporation doctrine breeds blowback.

Why does it matter what opinion the NRA has?
Contact your state legislator and tell him/her that you want this bill passed.
The legislators are the deciders, not the NRA.

The NRA doesn't think it's wise to run toward freedom, or even crawl. It makes people nervous. Lying supine with your soft underbelly exposed is the preferred position. They've sold out us Virginians for decades.
Friends of NRA dinner, honored visitor, a legislator who voted FOR one-gun-a-month. Someone knew and shouted that out. He ran.
Good luck getting a REPLY from the NRA, much less any change.

Found among the comments, quoting Jesus Christ:

Luke 11:21 - "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed." NASB

The NRA Lobbyist in IL is an egomaniac. The bill in question was written by a grass roots organization without consulting the NRA. The bill was written with the blessing of the ISRA and is the only bill to EVER get the endorsement of the Illinois Sherriff's Association.
Sadly, it was not written by yhe almighty NRA so they killed it because the NRA does not like grass roots activists.

No wonder Illinois will be the last state to regain the basic right of self defense.

Also, the NRA folks kept tumpeting their piddling little victories this year such as getting the house to allow a bill that adds "dwelling" to "abode" as places where you can possess a firearm (seriously, look up Illinois HB182). Now it turns out that the NRA was likely trading away our License to Carry bill for legislative support on nonsense.

Corruption through and through.

'Not invented here', so we're taking our ball and going home...NRA is happy being the permanent ineffectual lobby, rather than taking a chunk out of Leviathan's hide at a time.

It's because of crap like this I dropped my membership after 25 years. The NRA has done as much harm as good for gun owners nad doesn't seem to want to change.

Can't wait to hear the prags tell us why this was a brilliant tactic on the part of the NRA (Not Responsible Americans)

One does have to wonder if this may have been the driver behind the disinvitation to "REAL" gun bloggers at the 2A Blog Bash. Serious wonder, I am not endowing the "acceptable" prags with prescience, but I do know that for perfidy to flourish in an organization, conspiracy is a must. You know "What did you know, and when did you know it?", type thing.

Perhaps they just didn't want to have to answer that question.

Anon. 7:07 PM - good quote of Christ's, but let's read on ...

Luke 11:22 - BUT when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, AND divideth his spoils.

Sounds like a warning come true to me. We have every right to be just as fully armed as any of the Only Ones.

Wow SA, our tinfoil hat is slipping. Sorry to tell you that the bill in question was written as an incremental step by people that you would call "prags." The NRA previously opposed because it isn't perfect. They are neutral now and hopefully we'll get them to supports with more grassroots activism?

Where is your bill? I presume it would simply state: revokes all firearms laws. Good luck getting that passed.

The bill I prefer is:
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

As for the NRA, they do not enact legislation. Work to get your current legislators work for your agenda, not their own agenda. If they cannot do it, find someone who will, or run for the office yourself. Push your desired change.

The bill the Sheriffs supported was the one with the preemption clause in it and what was supported from the outset by their organization.

Hey Smith, fuck you. You know Goddamned well what happened and you haven't the balls to be on the right side of the issue, you haven't the balls to try to do anything unless you have a guarantee of success and credit. How the Hell would you know if something would or would not work, or if it is worth doing if we can only push them back a little or at best make them less sure of themselves for the next round. How the Hell would you know? You have never tried to stand up.

Did I mention, Fuck You? Nobody needs chickenshits in their ranks. You are more valuable to us if you stand with those you think have the guarantee of success. Get the Hell on the other side and stay there. At least you'll be where you belong. \

Did I mention fuck you?

Sorry David, but I am just so tired of these weak sisters who try to pull that superior shit.

straightarrow said...

Smith, your attitude is so selfish it defies belief. That's right asshole, selfish.

Uh huh, guess what? We may not win this time, or next time. We may not get credit if and when we do win. But steady resistance with no sneaking around about what we are really after may just make it easier and improve America for those down the road from here. But you and your ilk, don't give a damn about that. What's in it for you. Maybe nothing. However, there might be something in it for your children or grandchildren, but of course, you don't give a damn about that, because you have no guarantee of immediate victory or credit. So everybody who claims to be on the right side of the issue should just sit this one out or help kill it.

Did I mention "fuck you"?

I don't remember saying one damn thing against the grassroots orgs who worked for this, nor do I remember saying anything derogatory about their incremental approach to improving the situation in Illinois. That 'either or scenario' was yours Smith.

All I was waiting for was for someone of your stripe (yellow) to tell us why the NRA was right to help kill the bill. Remember, I didn't help kill this incremental approach, you incrementalists did.

Did I mention....oh never mind, you're not worth it.

LOL! Hey Arrow, did he do a good job pulling your chain or what. rotf.
I'm sure I know what got to you the most is some coward talking about you having a "tin foil hat". The reasons they do this is because they know they don't have any balls and they you do, so they move on to them being more intelligent because they are more so stable than folks with tin foil hats. You can always tell a coward is losing by the insults they levy. And mostly when they do this hiding behind a keyboard. Which is a flat out admission saying to the world, "I am a spineless chicken shit coward that squats to pee".
But lets look at the tinfoil hat another way. The NRA knew that the 1968 gun laws were taking word for word from Hitler's 1938 gun laws. Yet the NRA sat on their hands on/with this information and helped pass the 1968 gun laws. Follow this: 25 years after we beat the nazi's and found out the war crimes these monsters did. We as a nation enacted the very same gun laws word for word that the nazi monsters used to disarm the citizens with so they could murder them by the millions. I'm sure that there were names people used to put other folks down in the dark ages of Hitler and his nazi's for folks who were not going along with the program. In fact "Pollock Jokes" were founded by Hitler and his nazi's because they needed to dehumanize them to the cowardly chicken shit sheep. This is a fact Arrow, so if you don't mind take that tinfoil hat statement as a medal being handed to you by a cowardly chicken shit who knows you have balls yet wants to act like they are smarter than you admitting at the same time you're twice the man. You can't make this stuff up Arrow.
