We're the Only Ones Shooting Up Enough

Two off-duty Atlanta Police Department officers were arrested early Monday morning in Cherokee County, charged with reckless conduct for shooting dozens of bullets into Lake Allatoona.

At around 1 a.m. Cherokee 911 received several calls complaining about the gunfire. Deputies were dispatched to the Allatoona shoreline, and one reported a bullet landed just 15 feet away from where he stood... [More]

And I'll bet they don't pay for the ammunition either.

These guys are dumb as rocks. Anyone knows you don't shoot into the water like that.

At least they were able to hit the lake.

Yeah, but since they didn't actually hit and kill an innocent person will they be found to have "acted within department policy"?

Of course.
Remember APD narcotics officers sawing the burglar bars off the 81-year-old woman's basement windows to "serve a warrant" so they could search for drugs. She shot at the intruders, and they killed her. I think the chief apologized, but I'm not up on what happened to the raiders. They were acting in good faith on an informant's tip, so I guess ... nothing.
I read in a magazine once of a woman who died of a bullet wound from a lake ricochet. When they figured out that's what it was and not a murder, they realized that if her car window had been up it would have deflected it.
These cops are a tragedy ready to happen.

My point Defender. If they had killed someone we know they would have been found to have been "within department policy", but since no one was injured or killed does that apply?

See what I'm gettin at?
