Medicines of War

Prescription pain killers: far riskier than gun ownership [More]
Gosh, if only there were some way to register and track them. Maybe we need to add waiting periods, or limit purchases to one pill a month...

Schadenfreude

I don't think it's such a bad thing if merited. [Read]

We're the Only Ones Unsupportive Enough

Gary Toelke supports the current CCW laws, but not the new one ... Current CCW laws allow sheriffs to use their own discretion on issuing permits, the Constitutional Carry bill eliminates that. [More]
I'd say Franklin County has the wrong sheriff.

What We Need Are More Words

Evidently "shall not be infringed" is too ambiguous. [More]

Keeping Up with the Kardoucheians

Do you appear to be in your early 20’s and have been affected by gun violence in some way? Has this experience caused you to become an advocate against guns? If so, we want to hear your story! [More]
Unreality TV at its most insipid...

Fortunately, the type of lumps that immerse themselves in Bunim/Murray crap will provide a ready source of softer-target cannibal food when TSHTF!

It's telling though -- take their skank-infested "Bad Girls Club" -- please:
If the cast members engage in violence towards each other or break other rules, they may or may not be evicted under the show's policy, which is enforced by the producers. Security guards apparently live in the house behind the scenes as they jump into camera shot to break up the many violent altercations that break out on the series.
So Bunim/Murray's execs have the wherewithal to hire security when they perceive a need. And their 'reality stars" are self control-challenged, violence-prone headcases. How ... unsurprising.

We're the Only Ones Accomodating Enough

A knife-wielding attacker stabbed a judge and shot a sheriff's deputy with the officer's own gun in a county courthouse in Washington state on Friday, prompting a lockdown of schools and government buildings as police and SWAT teams searched for the attacker. [More]
I initially didn't want to make this an "Only Ones" post because anyone can be sucker-punched without warning. Then again, had a discreetly armed citizen been present, there's a good chance the assailant could have been stopped and the lockdowns and continued endangerment could have been avoided.

We're the Only Ones Rosy Enough

Hey, put that "uptick in homicides in context." [More]

Shoplifting's down some.

Besides, Dotson's "Have Fun Without Guns" slogan is almost as inspiring as "Whip Inflation Now" and "Just Say No."

And every bit as effective.

Crazy, Man

Prior to any firearm purchase in this state, a prospective firearm purchaser shall, at least seventy-two hours prior to the initial request to purchase a firearm from a licensed firearm dealer located at least one hundred twenty miles from such purchaser's legal residence, confer and discuss with a licensed physician the indicators and contraindicators and risk factors, including any physical, psychological, or situational factors, that may arise with the proposed firearm purchase. [More]
I'm sorry, I should have said crazy woman.

There's just not enough time in the day to elaborate on everything I'd like to explore in more depth.  Maybe I'll get back to this one later, but the way things are going, and since I'm told this bill will go nowhere, I kind of doubt it.

Frankly Ironic

A federal grand jury has indicted Jackson Mayor Frank Melton and his two police bodyguards on charges related to damage caused to an alleged drug house on Ridgeway Street on Aug. 26, 2006.
That's too rich. "Mayor Against Guns" Frankie "charged with using a firearm during the commission of a violent crime."

What is it with violent anti-gunners? Projection?

Cities Under Fire!!!!!

30,000 Americans die every year from gun violence. How do we prevent this carnage? First, view illegal guns as pollution. Then, go to the source. [More]
IT BUR-R-R-RNS!!!

And some think we use hyperbole.

I guess the "public health model" didn't get enough traction, so now we're trying the environmentalism analogy tack? And, of course, there's absolutely no acknowledgment of the protective benefits of guns in private hands. Nobody thought these folks were interested in objective scientific inquiry, I hope.

One name sticks out from this as, I dunno, ironic...Daniel Webster would do well to recall the words of a man who bore that name with honor.

Hey, if guns are pollutants, will rich liberals who still have theirs get to ease their consciences by paying some sort of offset indulgence...?

"An American Prayer"

This is the church you can't see...[More]

After that bit about the bad "Cyder" in today's history lesson, I thought we could all use a nice sudsy flushing out, and who better to provide it than this crew of celebrities? Click on the title link for the best total system purger I've yet found. And I do apologize in advance.

We started out at the Cult of Set with Thulsa Doom and watched him shape-shift into that elevated being known as The Lightworker. Others have taken to calling him the Obamessiah.

The thing is, it's his disciples who define him. These people are praying. The question now becomes "to whom?" and I fail to see any god mentioned in this tribute other than the one being worshipped tonight at the Greek temple.

We see the adoring devotees, heads bowed in reverence, hands folded in prayer: Forest Whitaker (who must be one hell of an actor), Jason Alexander, Barry Manilow...

And here's something we've seen before--the military did nothing when a Marine uniform was used to promote Hillary, possibly because it was from a movie clip--but this guy takes an active part in the "Hail Damien" chanting, that is, endorsing a political candidate while in uniform.

If the fascist media pigs can exploit the imagery of uniformed servicemen for political ends, we all ought to be able to.

Still--I thought the rich socialists were big on separation of church and state. At least I used to think that...
