Actually, the man who played Capt. K was a US Marine...although the rumor of his fighting alongside Lee Marvin at Iwo Jima is an urban legend...
Ya one thing i noted about the critisim was that all parties save his own and coalition partners in the Irish parliment (the Dáil) critised him save Sinn Fein (party linked to IRA). Pity would have been a great usage of the pot calling the kettle black phase.
