Gun Control Orwellianisms

I can proudly say that I have no fear of the government taking away my firearms...

It is naive to wrap yourself in the flag and call all who oppose your point of view "freedom haters" or "elitists."

Gun control is neither anti-American nor unconstitutional, and in most cases, it is actually beneficial to both our economy and the operation of a free society.
Those are good ones, Duane. Here are some more for you:

War is peace.

Freedom is slavery.

Ignorance is strength.

He did SUCH a good job supporting his stance...

Hard to argue with that.

Maybe Duane is just unfamiliar with Kalifornia confiscations, or the CAGE unit in chicago, or the aftermath of Katrina.

I'm baffled. He grew up in rural Alabama, was raised obviously raised around guns (and even given guns as gifts), and served as an MP in the Navy! And to top it off, he's a graduate student in anthropology (someone that's supposed be knowledgeable in history). Yet...

Gun control is neither anti-American nor unconstitutional...

These types are worse than the liberal never-touched-a-gun losers that scream for gun control.

Just goes to show that you can be a college graduate and still be an idiot.

I'm not as baffled as I am suspicious. For one thing, the US Navy doesn't have "military police officers." They have the Shore Patrol, and the Shore Patrol is comprised of sailors with arm-bands, belts, and batons. Very little training is afforded them, and only in extremely rare circumstances do they ever bear arms. It's not a job classification, it's more in the line of a single-day temporary duty assignment.

The Army has MP's.

If he HAS spent time in the Navy, then what he's doing now is puffing up his resume to impress the girls.

The world is full of gun owners who know next to nothing about guns, politics, or civil rights. This child appears to be one of them.

"What Garlock fails to understand is that in a democracy, there must be contending viewpoints in order for there to be a reasonable and functional consensus. It is naive to wrap yourself in the flag and call all who oppose your point of view "freedom haters" or "elitists."

"Gun control is neither anti-American nor unconstitutional, and in most cases, it is actually beneficial to both our economy and the operation of a free society. Anyone who would spout such drivel as Garlock does not fully understand the issue."

First things first. Contrary to popular belief, we are NOT a democracy baloonhead, but a REPUBLIC with democratically elected representation.

Secondly, when it comes to inherent, God-given rights there is no "reasonable and functional consensus". Do you have the slightest concept of what 'Unalienable' means?

Thirdly, since you were, supposedly, in the military. How can you take an oath to uphold and defend something you obviously don't understand?

Would suggest that you pull your head out. You'll be able to see things more clearly, and not have to continue inhaling that horrid internal stench.
