House Bill 2833, introduced by State Representative Martha Garcia, (D-13), would require that all handgun and “assault weapon” ammunition manufactured or sold in Arizona to be coded with an individual serial number, and entered into a statewide database at the time of sale. Encoded ammunition would be registered to the purchaser and would include the date of transaction, the purchaser’s name, date of birth, driver’s license number, and the serial number of the ammunition.Here's the bill.

Great Idea! Lets create another black market and an incentive to steal.
I can't even begin to imagine how much ammunition is bought per year in Arizona. This ideas seems like a perfect fit breaking a system by using it. Got to a favorite shooting spot, gather all the brass you can, and just toss it out your window in different areas. How many investigations will they open based on each piece of brass (and how much money) before the system gets backed up and falls off the gears?
We really need to abuse, I mean, use some of these existing "gun safety" programs.
Hypothetically, let's say this piece of garbage actually passes. what do you suppose the ammo manufacturers, jobbers, wholesalers, and retailers would do?
Would they take the principled Barrett Way, and simply refuse to sell to Arizonans?
What would the Only Ones do? There is no exemption for Only Ones.
You know, on second thought, this is so foolish and absurd that it's a total waste of time to even think about it. Forget it.
