Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Haanstad noted that Olofson had two previous gun-related convictions, including carrying a concealed weapon with his children trick-or-treating. He also noted that Olofson was reprimanded for corrupting Army computers and perhaps providing militia groups access to sensitive information.
He protects his children. And since when is an unproven "perhaps" on a totally different subject even relevant?
I guess they need to put as much spin on this as they can, in the hopes that enough will be fooled.

This case could be the watershed event for law-abiding gun owners in so many different ways. It could be the turning point in the collective and individual psyche of Americans because some might feel that the government has finally declared an undeniably overt war on innocent American gun owners. Previously, the war on guns has been carefully hidden behind platitudes and concerns over protecting the innocent. All of that goes away when such a ruthless and calculating attack on an innocent person is carried to this conclusion. Their fangs are finally exposed for all to see without any effort to conceal their true intentions.
On the other hand, it may be the tipping point within the judicial and legislative systems whereby judges and legislators who are hunters and fence sitters finally see the reality of the end game. This really is a war about taking ALL guns from Americans, even if it means persecuting innocent Americans via Stalinesque show trials.
Either way, this decision is extremely risky for the anti-gunners. It is either an incredibly stupid tactical blunder on the part of an anti-gun judge because it exposes the anti-gunners' true colors and their true end game without pretense, or it is an incredibly brilliant move by a pro-gun judge who knows that this crazed, unjust decision may be the one that finally creates such a massive hue and cry by ordinary Americans that reforms in our favor are almost inevitable as long as we scream loudly enough.
It is time to start screaming.
It is funny how judges are able to discover out of thin air "reasonable" limitations on absolute rights that "shall not be infringed." Yet, strangely, these same judges are unable to discover out of thin air reasonable limitations on laws that violate the constitution or our human rights.
It may be hard to imagine, but I sense a lack of parallelism in their reasoning. Imagine that!
I see that Barry Bonds the baseball player has been less than forthcoming about steroids in the Major League. The justice system has "rearranged" the charges against him to come up, somehow, with 14 additional ones that weren't there before. That kind of thing. What 5th Amendment?
Olofson: two and a half years for no criminal act. The Tree of Liberty is watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants, and the tears of the falsely imprisoned.
Sitting on the fence gets you nothing but splinters.
