A Formula for Success

South Sudan to disarm civilians...

"If you don't do it we'll take it by force."
This ought to end well.

1 part Religious Hatred
2 parts Political Intrusion
1 part disarmament
=
Genocide.

This should be interesting...

Funny how when genocide looms over there, it's an internal matter and the world community dares not interfere. But Americans' guns are a threat to galactic peace.
Twenty years from now, the UN will issue a commission report with photos of bodies being bulldozed into acres of trenches. They will say the number of innocent dead doesn't merit the term "genocide," merely "ethnic cleansing, so sitting THIS one out too was in accord with policy. All cultures are equally valid, remember, and if the culture of Sudan's government says Muslim government supporters need liebensraum, the Christians and animists have to go, that's all there is to it. I'd guess one Sudanese in 200 can AFFORD a gun of any kind if the government doesn't give him one and point him in the direction of its enemies.

1,600 members of the Lou Nuer ethnic group [who turned in their guns or never had any] were killed by their neighbours who had kept their weapons.
Ah, THERE'S a great incentive to comply. Die at the hands of your armed neighbors someday, maybe, or at the hands of government gun confiscators next week.
Notice: "north-south civil war." Purely geographic, is it? Look up "janjaweed militia."

That could all be stopped within 30 minutes of landing 100 c-130's loaded with small arms and distributed to EVERYBODY.

30 minutes would end it all, just as soon as the word was out that the victims were no longer defenseless.

I would surrender an arm to that proposition.
