Jer...uh...KirkWatch

We've been following the latest treachery in the form of an "assault weapon" ban by Republican Mark Kirk. Here are some new observations:

Sean says it's about registration, and we know where that leads to. You're not wrong, Sean, that's one of the results.

What do you do if you're a "moderate republican" who attacks gun owners and they give you the response you deserve? Go crying to your democrat friends about the mean old "right wing gun zealots/loonies."

What a political genius you are, Mark Kirk, as is your sycophant, Team America. What better way to win a toss-up race than poking a stick into this hornet's nest--and keeping it up?

Speaking of T&A, "Anonymous" posted a comment (at June 22, 2008 2:45 AM) showing us how to recognize techniques used to manipulate an argument--which is all some have left to them when the truth isn't on their side. Funny how that always seems to be the case with control nazis and their mantra-chanting drones.

Both the states of California and New York, along with the City of Chicago used their registration laws to find and confiscate semi-automatic firearms after publicly promising and swearing an oath to the Constitution-so-help-them-God that they would not do that if the registration law passed.

I will never register or surrender any of my firearms. Ever.

My gun dealer told me the other day that he keeps all his past form 4473 records and bound books in paper boxes in an outbuilding on his farm. The same building where he keeps his grill's propane tanks, his lawnmower gas, and fuel for his camp stove and lanterns.

In case of emergency.

Team America ?

Wasn't that a movie about Puppets on a string?

I realize you wrote it tongue in check but just for the record TA is no "friend" of mine.

Given his bizarre and illogical ramblings it's hard to believe TA's a lawyer of some sort, but apparently he is. Rather than approaching the 2A issue from an actual hard-and-fast ethical stand, he instead arrives at his position (like so many others of his stances) by sticking his finger to Mark Kirk's wind... And thus finds himself twisted into pretzels of his own partisan making.

You and I likely don't agree on much in this area, Mr. Codrea, but on TA's brown nosing we do agree.

I LIKE your gun dealer, Mr. G. I wish they were all so prepared for emergencies.
I wonder what kind of backlash there would be if many licensed dealers' dogs ate their forms, etc. Then I guess there'd have to be back-backlash, and it'd be ON. Guilty until proven innocent, remember.
I believe in the vast right-wing conspiracy -- to give away the White House and both chambers of Congress, the Supreme Court, and state and local offices throughout the land. Maybe they don't want to be at the wheel when the ship of state hits the rocks. But sailors know that's what happens when you stay in the red sector -- a lighthouse's warning of a no-go area.
