Well, the short story is that I found out my National Rifle Association dues were used to pay for a massive swiftboating ad campaign against Barack Obama regarding guns and shortly thereafter decided that I was not going to take it.Tripped on your face right out of the starting gate. If you knew the first thing about what you're talking about, you'd know:
Neither NRA member dues nor contributions to ILA can be used directly for the election or defeat of candidates. You're going to do the honorable thing and issue a retraction and apology now, right?
If you're intent on drinking the Obama Kool-Aid, enjoy. When rationality isn't part of the mix, it's no use bringing up facts. It's your credibility, after all--feel free to publicly destroy it.
But at the very least, get your damn finger away from that trigger.

Went out of his way to make an ass out of himself, and to show how piss-blindingly ignorant he is about Hussein. I say give him a 10 on the heads-up-your-ass scale. Bravo! III.
If it is fired, his hand will never be the same, either.

Mr. Isaacs doesn't have to worry. There are plenty of voters in Detroit who will gladly vote in Ohio.
I have come to understand that there are no limits to how far people will go to fool themselves. Sometimes we just get caught in the crossfire.
Looking at the picture, I question whether he is a gunowner, let alone a member of any gun organization.
i'm terrible at hyperlinking today. second attempt:
i made a video response for scott to help clear this up directly and also pointed it out in his newsvine thread. finally got some use out of having an account there. how about that.
naturally i am citing my sources. :)
and, good catch, david.
Good one, Jonathan. Too bad Newsvine won't accept links.
I see Scott hasn't addressed the critiques. Funny, since he offered to debate all comers over at SIH...
I had a short comment, but the verification procedure did not work for me. I give up on that angle.
Anyway, SA confirms my sentiment on the matter; there is quite a bit in that video that makes me doubt Isaacs' authenticity. His CCW permit could be real, for all I know, but it appears his NRA card has no name, member number or expiration date. That doesn't matter much to me, since NRA membership and special state permission are not a prerequisite for advocating defense rights.
I could scour all the sites on the WoG blogroll, and I doubt I would find a "gunnoner" that uses the term "concealed carry member"; we say "concealed carry permit-holder", or simply "permit-holder", (and especially "CHL" in Ohio.) I don't think I've ever heard a CCW holder claim he was "registered", either.
Then we have the "not enough votes in Congress" line, straight from Senator Obama. I don't think I've run across a cold-dead-hands type who misunderstood the 2A enough to make that claim. It's not much of a reassurance, as was recently pointed out in the Wall Street Journal. We should vote for Obama why?
I've never heard the term "castle" used--in the context of defense rights--in the manner employed by Mr. Isaacs. It is always followed by the term "doctrine". I don't care much about "possible intruders", only actual ones. Discussing the possible sounds a bit too much like justifying the possession of a weapon in a climate of preemption. That's generally not how pro-defense advocates think.
Heston's words at the end are completely out of place, considering the content of the preceding message.
Finally, as David points out, Mr. Isaacs holds his weapon in an unusual manner. Considering the fuss that Ohio government has made about training requirements for CHL hopefuls, Mr. Isaacs' instructor should do his best to conceal his name. What is that grip, anyway? Is he auditioning as a hand model for the key frame animation in the next 'Alien' movie?
Transcript of video follows:
"Hi, I'm Scott Isaacs, and I'm a resident of Ohio.
I'm also a member of the NRA, and I am a concealed carry member registered in the state of Ohio.
This is my 45 caliber friend that I carry with me; with my concealed carry permit.
I was very disturbed to learn today that the NRA used my dues to launch a largely false campaign against Barack Obama.
He does not want to prohibit the manufacture, sale and possession of firearms in the United States, nor does he want to take away our right to defend our castle against possible intruders and break in.
And even if he did want to do this, he does not have the votes in Congress to do it.
So, I say: vote for Barack Obama as I am; and you should as well, because he'll make America better.
And, if all else fails, take Charlton Heston's advice: if you want this gun, you can pry it from my cold, dead hands."
