Charles W. Steger, president of Virginia Tech, was paid nearly $720,000 during the same period...I wonder if Larry got to lick the plate?

Not "we expect the issue to be resolved, so it won't happen again," but "we expect to get some assurances . . . "
Mr. Hincker seems to have a bit of a tendency to value happy illusions of safety--it was he, after all, who after a bill died that would have ended the "gun-free zone" status of Virginia campuses, said:
I’m sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly’s actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.
Just tell him what he wants to hear, apparently.
Too many people worship at the altar of technology. Obviously, they are worshiping a false idol.
Regrettably, the newspaper fails to relate the fact that it is the taxpayers who are being hosed.
The best solution - armed self-defense - is also the most cost effective.
Not that many are willing to make a fiscal argument.
Nobody's ever explained how a text message telling me about the nutjob who shot up my classroom several minutes ago is going to help me. Perhaps I'm too dense to be a college student...
On the other hand, this moron could be used as a good illustration of what not to be like when you grow up. College students need bad examples to know what to avoid. Let's keep pointing and laughing.

For some strange reason I don't think 30,000 people, give or take, will be permanently thrilled to have half a dozen useless text messages and phone calls each and every time some fool drops a trashcan lid.
Even IF this was a good idea for the real thing, just how long do they think it will take before everyone ignores it altogether?

I was watching the shenanigans when there was a liud boom outside the room.

My son and I laughed. We know explosions and this was not.
Turns out the bulldog State Police chief found out a mail can fell over.
