Safety Trumped Pleasure

John Dyke never thought he'd be parting with the two guns he uses for target practice. But safety trumped pleasure, so he turned in his weapons to the Broward Sheriff's Office during their buy-back program...
Quite simply put, John, I do not believe you. I don't believe you're really that stupid. And if you're not someone with an agenda, I almost pity you.

Almost.

And yeah, Lt. David Holmes--I'm sure those are all "illegal guns" you're getting "off the street." I'm sure "the entire community" is now at considerably less "risk."

And leave it to the "Authorized Journalists" at CBS 4 to add their editorial bias and gin up the hysteria.

Enough to fill an entire table!

That's it? That's news?

I guess it does let them get their intended message across:
40 weapons have been collected. That's 40 fewer chances for a tragedy to strike.
That it's also 40 fewer chances for a citizen to protect themselves isn't even given mention. What a preposterous idea!

After all, only the "Only Ones" are qualified to possess guns, particularly lying anti-gun "Only Ones" from the Broward County Sheriff's Department.

Lying anti-gun "Only Ones" from the Broward County Sheriff's department who spent time in the federal pen, that is...parasites who are still trying to find a way to reattach to the body of their host.

Yeah, these guys are just plain better than you and me.

And certainly better than John Dyke.

Whether pinheads at the airport extolling the 'sense of safety' they gain from TSA's security theater, to poltroons lauding the confiscators for 'removing these awful guns from the streets' to Chitown denizens cheering the lockdown and checkpoints they have to deal with to access their homes around the BHO neighborhood, the approved media has no shortage of absolute fools and jackasses to hype the end of liberty.

The morons will do us in.

Please do not misunderstand, I have great respect for the police officers who do their jobs; but for the other 75 per cent, taking guns from law abiding citizens is a way to appear to be 'doing good for the community', without risk. This way, they do not have to face a gangsta with a Tec-9 or sawed off or BigMac... hey, a guy could get hurt that way. Better to just take the guns from John and Jane Doe.
BUT - the premise is that the police only show up after the crime, thus the solution is to get rid of guns, right? Next question: do you know how many people die in fires each year? How much property is lost? Homes and lives destroyed?

And the firemen only show up after the fire has begun. THUS, if our pretend prez, BamBam Obongo, wants to be pro-active, he should at once ban ALL sources of combustion! A ten dollar tax on every Bic lighter, five dollars on each book of matches. Ovens and heaters could ONLY be lighted by authorized government agents. All people owning a Zippo must apply for a permit to carry it. The California fires could have been totally prevented, if only the laws had required a government man to handle the fire and be on site to extinguish it.
Sure, there will need ot be higher taxes, and sure, this will be inconvenient, but what is money compared to the loss of life? Let's DO IT... for the children!

Please do not misunderstand: I despise cops and their liberty-eradicating "job". When the "job" is manning the "showers", good men walk off the job.

Looks like the cops did do some of those people a favor. Most of those guns you couldn't have paid me $50 to own. A few Raven .25's, some ratty .22's and some long guns that looked to be of dubious safety. One of the revolvers looked decent. But no Tec-9s (god I hope the bad guys are armed with Tec-9s and shoot them sideways, if I ever have to face them), no AK's or even any .40's, looks like porky didn't do much to improve his own chances on the street.

As for those sheep defending themselves, they could have had top of the line arms and they would have just stood by baaaing and begging the big bad wolf to leave them alone.

David, not sure where in Ohio you are, but I have some interesting audio off the radio tonight about Cleveland's "buyback" I'll upload to youtube for all ASAP. Out of cops mouths. You'll get a kick out of it.

Time to start doing our own "buy backs", offer the same amount that way any of the junk can be offloaded to the cops with no loss of money and we get to keep the good ones at a great price.

Ya know, I have a crappy little single-shot .22 short Butler derringer that someone monkeyed with (not me, I swear) that doesn't shoot. I could get money in one of these "buy-backs" with it, but refuse to do so because I refuse to even give these things an appearance of legitimacy, and I don't want any "public money".

Conversation heard in a large city during 'buyback' to make the streets safer for 'the children' -
"Yo, how many can I bring in at one time, I mean, I got a lots that still, yo, in the boxes an' everything...uh..you don't check no numbers or nothin', right?'
