A Yorktown gun-rights advocate who sued Norfolk after his arrest at Town Point Park for openly carrying a handgun will receive a $15,000 payout to settle the federal lawsuit.We discussed this before.
I hope the citizens of Norfolk remember this when the city comes crying saying they don't have enough money.
They have enough to blow $15 grand knowingly and willfully violating citizens' rights. Plus whatever they spent getting dragged through court.

City Attorney Bernard A. Pishko said the settlement avoids the high price of going to trial. The city did not admit any wrongdoing, he said.
When have "The Only Ones" ever admitted wrongdoing?
"The city later learned that the ordinance is unenforceable because state law prohibits localities from regulating firearms."
Nuh uh! It's been "proven" that statutory law is superior to the Constitution, so of course local ordinances trump state law! Sheesh, you guys, get with the program. It's not like a town is simply an incorporation under state law.
I love it when these departments refuse to admit wrongdoing. By doing so it is apparent that they believe the officers acted properly. So whatever their offical policy might be, the next person harrassed can claim that obviously their unofficial but actual policy is to violate peoples' rights, opening the city up to whole new levels of liability.
