Kristen Rand, legislative director for the Violence Policy Center, states, "This new web site makes clear that contrary to the false promises of the gun lobby the simple and deadly fact is that state concealed handgun systems are arming cop-killers, mass shooters, and other murderers." [More]The VPC said it. I believe it. That settles it.
I mean, they would never lie about anything, would they?
And it's not like all of their "case studies" have been resolved, meaning...what, exactly, according to the way our legal system is supposed to work?
Besides which, if we're going to play the statistics game, we need to factor in how the "85" number measures up to the millions of citizens who have not shot anyone in the last two-and-a-half years of the VPC "study," compare their rate of being "law-abiding" to, say, the "Only Ones," and then not forget to factor DGUs into the equation, which VPC always manages to conveniently overlook...
What seems to be obvious is Josh Sugarmann & Co. are increasingly showing themselves to be anti-human rights loons who are reduced to coming up with more and more preposterous ways to scream at passers-by for attention.

The PR News article you linked to is "404 Not Found."
Wow, that was fast.
Worked when I posted. Oh well, maybe they didn't pay their bills?
Came up with an alternate link to the VPC site.
Probably a dumb question, but what's a DGU?
defensive gun use.
This final paragraph reveals clearly their mindset:
"Because most state systems that allow the carrying of concealed handguns in public by private citizens release little data about crimes committed by permit holders, the VPC reviews and tallies concealed handgun permit holder killings as reported by news outlets. It is likely that the actual number of fatal criminal incidents involving concealed handgun permit holders is far higher."
Yep. Basically "We can't find them but we REALLY hope more people have been killed."
This PR News article link should work.
"I would shoot you but I don't have a CCW permit and thus, am not carrying a gun!!"
Sounds plausible.
How far will these evangelists of their own agendas go to twist reality to fit their desired perceptions? They're sick in the head.
If any statisticians are reading what's the odds on a police officer that has to visit the dregs of society every day as a on the job requirement getting involved in a altercation vs say someone like an store clerk at a suburban Macy's or a political lobbyist that hangs around the capitol building that has 24 / 7 security details such as perhaps Mr Sugarman would do?
What's the odds that the Officer is more likely to interact with violence as a more likely threat?
I wish to point out that none of these shootings by CCW holders have occured in Illinois.
Uh, oh, that's right...we don't have CCW.
Never mind, go to your homes...
