Poll Watching

Scroll to poll halfway down page on right:
Quick vote
Should Congress ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds?
I'd be tempted to vote "Yes" if there were an "I dare you" option.

It is currently at 57% Yes (in favor of banning mags over 10 rds) & 43% No. No wonder we are here in this predicament today concerning individual freedoms and liberty in general. Unfortunately this phenomenon is not limited only to guns and seems to be attacking many other areas of society just as virulently today.

The big debate in my town right now is whether to allow Wal-Mart to expand and add a grocery store on their own property. The usual suspects decry Wal-Mart because it is non-union and will destroy the community and all the other scare tactics they can throw out there. If you listen to the opposition, if Wal-Mart is allowed to expand my town will be the next ghost town.

The people can't seem to wrap their heads around the concept that people should be allowed to develop their own property as they see fit and everyone else should be given the choice to shop where they please and to vote with their pocket books. If someone has a problem with Wal-Mart policies then don't shop nor spend your money there. Unfortunately that would take the power out of the hands of the local liberal elites and the government bureaucrats on the planning commission and put it into the hands of the people...and we can't have that now can we. Choice is unacceptable to them unless it is the choice to terminate a pregnancy in which case choice is ok.

I become more jaded as every day passes and I see more and more of this crap. It isn't even the legislators so much anymore as a populace willing to elect them and allow them to implement these policies without complaint. So many have accepted the fact that government is better at making decisions than they are. They have willingly abdicated their choice and their freedom.
