The Sounds...

...of Silence [Read]

I have my own ideas on why that might be I'll elaborate on in the near future...

And yes, I know The Onion is a joke site.

Well, Sen. Mark Warner actually DID say that after Tucson we need gun laws that balance freedom with security.

And Obama DID say that even though there's strong disagreement, business CEOS must work with him to fix the economy and unemployment.
"he offered a stout defense of government regulations, even as he promised to eliminate those that are too burdensome. He reached back to history, invoking President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's outreach to corporate leaders and evoking the strains of self-sacrifice expressed by President John Kennedy." --AP

I've contacted Warner three times on this matter. Once, admittedly, in a mass-email sponsored by the Virginia Citizen's Defense League (VCDL). I got the form letter. OK - fair's fair - He got basically a form letter from me, I got one from him.

I then wrote a personalized e-mail pointing out that

1) The FED Reg notice didn't limit the BATFE to collecting long gun info to only border states.
2) The IG has harshly criticized the existing project GunRunner and
3) That by statute (18 USC § 923 (3)(A)), the BATFE had no authority to collect such info.

I received the same form letter in response.

On January 31st I sent Senator Warner a third e-mail, reiterating the above points, pointing out that Sen. Grassley was investigating "Project Gunwalker", that I was offended by his form letter and that I awaited his thoughtful response.

To date the only response has been the sound of crickets chirping...
