Wait... Story said the gun was "locked". Does that mean it had some kind of trigger lock on it, or did she forget to take the safety off?
Something else I just thought of: what would the officers' reactions be if THEY were the ones being robbed? I don't think they would comply with the demands of the robbers.
Hypocrisy comes to mind.
