When the British evacuated Boston and sailed to Halifax, Nova Scotia, the seized arms from Boston and gunpowder from Charlestown went with them along with Loyalists, but the citizens of Boston who remained were no longer prisoners under martial law in their own city.

Why is this so familiar? We did not shake off the tyranny of British rule to adopt home-grown tyranny.
